Where is Franklin Roosevelt when you need him? We have no one like that today, certainly not Barack Obama.
What is it that the Senate does not get about 100’s of thousands of people entering the unemployment ranks just this last month? What is it that the Senate does not get about 100’s of thousands of people’s unemployment running out by the end of the year?
Why are Republicans putting pork in the bill and slowing it down? People making $350,000 a year do not need the $8,000 housing exemption. What is wrong with those Republicans they are raising the ire of the unemployed public with this slow down? The House passed the Bill in September. People are talking about busing the unemployed to Washington to make their feeling known.
Hey you guys and gals in the Senate- don’t you know there is an election coming up in a couple of weeks. I don’t agree with everything the Democrats do, but I agree with this legislation to get the long term unemployed their benefits. Little more needs to be said –unemployment is now as bad as the Great Depression and we don’t have Franklin Roosevelt to get us out. Where is our NEW Deal?

Well FDR was good for creating work. a lot of economists have said, “during a slow economy, the government should pay people to dig a hole, and then fill it up again.” But the Democrats are almost solely to blame for adding pork, the Republicans launched a anti-pork campaign years ago to combat the bills that the democrats have been passing. but with that being said, I don’t trust any of them one-eye-oda. if they really wanted to help America, they could have done that years ago, we’re not the ones they’re working for.
but great article by the way, I love anything that questions the government and practices freedom of speech. more people should write like this, maybe then people’s eyes would open up rather than believing everything that they see on the news.
I have been watching coverage nonstop on CSPAN2 for two weeks. I don’t know how the Senate ever gets anything done. The arrogant Republicans don’t get it, unemployed people need their benefits. I have worked for over 20 years and this is the first time I’ve needed the benefits. Now, the Repubs are going to bicker and whine that their amendments won’t be added! Pass the extension. Put your other worries about ACORN, or homebuyer credits, or TARP, or stimulus in some other legislation if it is so critically important to you. STOP the SUFFERING!

YEA HA, it passed before I was on my death bed and let me add, we unemployed are good people. At least we are not eating horses, not that we ever would, thank God.
I’m Country Carl the Artist and Advocate for additional unemployment benefits on Unemployment-Gone-Mad dot com. Across this great country pawn shops were the only ones mining gold. As we waited for an unemployment extension, thousands more became dumpster divers, tent pitchers and street corner beggars. Even pets were becoming a burden for tearful owners and freaking out as they became abandon. So my hat is off to those of you who finally saw the light, because these New Depression Blues times can drag a good man to the bottle. Bless you Senators my beer summit is to you old farts.
