My personal opinion on why people were so upset at president Obama for speaking with young students.
President Obama recently announced that he would give a speech to the nations children. Now I am no political/social analyst but through my personal experience I have noticed a large uproar from the media and from people I have come across in social conversation, against his speech. I personally do not understand why people would be so against this speech.
It is true that both president Reagan and George Bush sr. also suffered mild scrutiny when they chose to address the nations teens, but why is Obama suffering the worst? It looks like to me, people are awfully nervous about his speech to the teens because it is so close to his speech about health care. The same people who are criticising him for his health care speech just find it natural to criticize him for his teen speech. It’s almost like they think because both speeches are happening around the same time, he will be preaching his health care policy to the kids.
Well this is just pure upsurdity to me. There once was a time when the people loved and trusted their leader. When people would take their children to the kings castle and watch him speak to the masses (not to say that the king was always loved, or loved blindly. He earned the trust of the people by giving uplifting and promising speechs, and following through with them). My point is, Obama is our president. Whether you agree with his policy’s or not he is still our leader. It is just not courteous to our countrys well being to criticize every move he makes. Be aware, be critical, but be respectful, not just of him but of the country. Why has it become uncommon for our leader to speak with the youth and attempt to motivate them into bettering themselves?
