Why Buying American Fails

All those super patriots that scream for people to “Buy American” are ignorant. They claim that buying from Chinese or Korean workers are harming our economy and the only way to solve it is to buy American. Well, buying American ends up hurting ourselves in the end. Perhaps not financially, but morally.

The American government and way of life is based completely on democracy and capitalism. When you buy American products for the sake of patriotism, it limits the competitiveness of the market. People would no longer be buying the best product, but the only product available. What kind of market is that? Certainly not a capitalistic market. It’s something more akin to Communism. And that is not the American way of life.

If America wants to sell more products, it needs to get leaner and more competitive. If Chinese workers can do a job well enough, ship it all the way over to America, and still have it cheaper than products made at home, it means that there’s something wrong with our way of doing things. Americans have been too lazy for too long. We are no longer as competitive as we used to be, and instead of compromising our ideals to strengthen our economy, we should find better ways. So whenever a super patriot encourages you to buy Communism, tell him that he’s being a disgrace to America by spreading Communism.
