Why Do Those Who are Supposed to Represent Us Believe The Constitution is Irrelevant?
This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.” – Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
Right now we are seeing the biggest power grab in the history of our Country. This is a violation of the Constitution which is the Law of the land! We are also experiencing a scrutiny of the American people that should never happen in a free country.
Recently, the Department of Homeland Security (with Janet Napolitano, Obama appointee as Secretary) came out with a report titled “Right wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.” This document places anyone opposed to the Obama administration policies under suspicion of being radicals or dangerous individuals. Possibly even potential terrorists. They also consider those with a military background as a serious potential threat.
Why is this administration so wary of the American people? The Bush administration faced much more hostility from those who disagreed with their policies. However they did not go so far as to consider The average American a threat. Our Constitutional rights have been under attack for decades. It seems that that attack is certainly escalating with the previous and present administrations. It is getting pretty scary when you read blogs and have some commenter’s asking why we are so opposed to becoming a socialist nation? Have they no idea of what we will lose in terms of individual rights and freedoms? Has the collective been so successful that people have forgotten what the revolutionary war was triggered by?
All the promises of a transparent government were just more political hogwash to gain votes. This administration seems to think it is non of the American peoples business as to what they plan to implement as law. They some how have forgotten they they work for us “we the people” not ideologues or special interest groups. We need to remind them of this with our votes. If your senator or congress person is not listening to you and is pandering to special interests or an ideology or even to the President instead of working for the good of those he/she is supposed to represent. then vote them out of office. They have forgotten that in America the government is a government of the people, by the people, for the people.
In the interim while we wait for election day, we need to call our senators and representatives and let them know that we want access to all legislation before they vote on it. We also need to insist that they actually read the bills before voting for them. If they haven’t bothered to read the bills they are not doing their job.
It doesn’t matter whether your conservative or liberal. These people are supposed to be representing all of us and they are not doing that. They really don’t care what we as Americans want from them as our representatives and therefore they are not doing the job WE hired them to do.
