It was shocking news – something not endorsed by those who believe in the right to life.
George Tiller, the self-professed abortionist is dead. He died at the hands of a gunman who mistakenly believed that such an action was necessary to save the lives of the unborn. The alleged murderer has been taken into custody, and as predicted the leftists in the blogosphere and the lame stream media have begun their smears of the right to life people. The members of the right to life movement have condemned and have not condoned this murder. I will not call it an assassination because that is just not applicable for Tiller. There was an overreaction where protection was called for other abortionists, even though this man was a loner. On top of that the POTUS deemed it necessary to show more childish anger.
I do not weep over the death of George Tiller yet I am shocked over the way in which he died. What is so shocking is that he was murdered in the foyer of a church. What is even more shocking is they hypocrisy of George Tiller and that congregation in calling a murderer of the unborn, a Christian. By the same token the man who killed Tiller is not a Christian – he held the extremist views of an extreme right wing, now defunct group of people which does not place him within the mainstream of Christianity. Tiller was not a follower of Christ because of the evil that he did, even though he thought that he did right. Roen is not a follower of Christ because he chose to murder the man instead of allowing legal processes to work.
I do not have any real empathy for the Tiller family because they have become enriched through the abortion industry. They have not been able to see, even though they profess to be Christian, that what they have done is evil in the sight of the Lord. My own lack of empathy does not mean that I am dancing in the streets of giving up shouts of joy. On the contrary, I am totally stunned by what has happened.
One of the myths of the abortion industry, and a myth spread by Tiller is that he was saving the lives of women when he performed late term abortions. If those lives really were in danger e.g. the mother had been involved in a car accident and her uterus had been ruptured, then any necessary procedure could be carried out in an hospital, and it would not require the signature of 2 doctors. Tests that show that a baby has a deformity can be wrong, and the question of abortion should not be raised. This is a very grey area because it is not always the mother who demands the abortion, but medical staff. In fact a lot of the pressure comes from medical staff. A few things can happen if the baby is deformed whilst in the womb:
- There will be a more natural abortion, that is the baby will die and the mother will have a miscarriage.
- The baby will survive through to the birth and then die soon afterwards.
- The baby receives a life-saving operation and the parents lovingly care for their child who is in fact very special.
In a world where deformity is seen as a nuisance to those who are considered healthy, it might be time to take stock of the situation and start giving a little bit of self instead of being so selfish. The truth is that abortion on demand thrives because of the selfishness of others. Parents do not want to raise a child that might be defective because the defect is seen to reflect upon them in some way – even though the rise in IVF procedures might in fact be the cause of the rise in these defects.
I doubt very much that any mother’s life was saved due to the operation of Tiller’s abortion mill. All of that kind of talk was just a ruse to justify the late term abortions. The women have been very badly advised, but who can blame the women when they are placed under so much pressure by those who want the embryos for scientific purposes. It is why I will not weep over Tiller’s untimely and violent death, yet I condemn the person who committed the act of violence against the man.

Cigarettes and alcohol take human lives, too, yet their merchants are not shot to death for selling them. There are plenty of ‘right-to-lifers’ who take secret satisfaction in Dr. Tillman’s death. Leave it to a jury to decide the shooter’s fate; leave it to God to determine Tillman’s.
You write very well, by the way. RB
