Questioning America’s war and the lack of American protest to it.

What shocks about the war in Iraq; it is still going on.

Unlike Vietnam, there is no “iron curtain” keeping the public
ignorant of the facts. Iraq is an open blog. There can be no “spin”, no “alternative” explanation.

Whether one lives in Bankor or Bangkok what is happening on the ground in Iraq is not hidden. So why is the war still going on?

America has an “all volunteer” army. This is a misnomer. Before 9/11 many people joined the Reserves as a method to pay for
their University education. They expected to be weekend soldiers for a few years and enjoy the fruits of their education.

When the Towers were destroyed the adrenaline of revenge pushed thousands into uniform. The belief was that those who did this act would pay.

Afghanistan is one thing, Iraq is another. Iraq had as much involvement in 9/11 as shouting at the television effects the action on screen.

Maybe at first people were stupid. Maybe they confused Iraq with Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia or vaguely recalled they didn’t like Saddam Hussein. Maybe they believed this “Weapons of Mass Destruction” lie they were fed.

By 2003, it was obvious to even a dull mind that entering Iraq was a mistake.

Somewhere, the psyche of America stagnates in World War II, expecting the citizens of Paris to hail them as Liberators. Baghdad is not Bordeaux.

Let me post it here; the Islamic World Hates America. Hates. The world of jihad and crusaders never ended in the Islamic World. The belief that those who were not Muslim should be converted by the sword or killed did not go out with Richard II but has persisted to this very day.

Those who dispute this should view Pakistan, one of America’s
‘allies’ to see just how much Muslims living there hate America,
or study Egypt, where they danced in the street when the Towers came down; to comprehend the word; hate.

The West has created petro-billionaires who claim to be kings and princes. Who oppress their own people and blame the West. Education in these places is often hate based as copies of texts used in Saudi Arabia’s schools have attested, (exposed by the BBC).

Fighting a ground war in Iraq is a way to get killed. There are no friendlies, there are those who don’t have opportunity to kill Americans, those who are getting pay offs by Americans, and those who haven’t seen any Americans lately to kill.

If America spends ten years in Iraq all that will happen is that more Americans will die, or come back to the United States to commit suicide, (CBS revealed one hundred and twenty veterans a week).

Where are the protests?
Where are the Armies of the Night?
Where are the national strikes?

How have Americans become so disassociated that they do not demand the war end?
Each day it lasts creates new enemies, wastes more money, and costs more American lives. But let us stop and imagine “winning” this war. What does America get? Oil?

The problem with Oil is that it is not scarce but there are not enough refineries. Those who own oil refineries are the winners.

Iraq did not figure in oil production as there had been an embargo from the days of the first President Bush.

So here are the “volunteers”, who never imagined going to Iraq, being sent to Iraq, once, twice, three times, (unlike Vietnam where after a one year tour of duty, a draftee’s service was over), here is the price of oil shooting up to over $120 a barrel, before
toppling, ready to jump whenever the petro-millionaires need
some spare change, and here is the wastage of a trillion plus dollars, and climbing.

And what does winning look like?

The Iraqis will remain Muslims, and continue to hate America, happily killing each other until another Saddam arrives to stop it.

That America could have blundered into Vietnam can be chalked to ignorance. Ignorance of the people, the culture, the reality
of South East Asia.

What is the excuse for Iraq?
