My views on the topic.

I can understand their reasoning: There are people out there who can’t work, or are working 2 jobs and barely pull in enough to support themselves, let alone a family.  And it’s a nice thought to help someone out who’s in financial trouble.  But when you forcefully take that money out of people through taxes and “redistribute” the wealth, you are essentially punishing people for making more money than others.  It’s their money, what right does the government have to take your money away from you and give it to someone else.

A good example is grades in high school.  Let’s say Jeff has straight A’s in his 6 classes, while Garrett has only C’s in his 6 classes.  According to the Democrats, Jeff should lower his 4.0 GPA to a 3.0 GPA so that Garrett can raise his GPA from a 2.0 to a 3.0.  If you found out this had happened to your son and daughter, and that they got a lower GPA because someone had a bad GPA, wouldn’t you be pissed?  Essentially, the democrats want to do the same thing only with your money.

It’s wrong to forcefully take something that someone has earned and give it to someone else.  What it creates is a lazy society that relies on the government for money.  It also gives a negative incentive to strive for high paying jobs that require high amounts of training/education/skills/etc.  The economy will slow down to a crawl as everyone turns into beggars for the government.  Except that the government will either be leaching off of the last few people still bringing in large amounts of money within the USA, or having to complete revise the economy since they’re running out of money.

One should rely on one’s own well earned money and work.  While charity is nice to give and receive, and is certainly to be encouraged, it is wrong to force it out of people who have earned their money.
