Describes some of the past political and personal events of Sarah Palin as well as her resignation.

Sarah Palin has announced Friday that she is resigning her position in office. She has been in the media  quite a bit these last few years with her run for Vice President and the pregnancy of her teenage and unmarried daughter. The drama of Bristol Palin has also graced the news and many tabloids as her and the child’s father separated. Levi Johnston, the father of the child has publicly stated that the Palin’s are not what they appear to be. Palin has also been under investigation in the connection of “abusing her power” by firing an Alaskan state public safety commissioner who wanted to fire her ex brother-in-law.

Today, Palin issued a statement to a reporter that there are so many problems within Alaska. She has stated that lawsuits have cost Alaska and her family millions of dollars. Her family is actually half a million dollars in debt. Mrs. Palin has stated that she does not need a “title” to make a difference within her state or country. Her family, including her son who is in Iraq, were all for her resignation.

But why, her statements regarding her departure and her past political stances appear to be inconsistent? I would think that someone in that much of debt would want to keep their job to help pay for it, especially with the recession underway.Palin’s salary as a governor is $125,000.She herself has contributed greatly to her financial misfortunes. She has taken full control over the benefits of her position. She has also spent $43,490 in travel expenses. The legal allowance she has for traveling expenses is $58 a day. Also, I do think that the “title” and position of governor would giver her more of a chance to help with these problems facing Alaska rather than being a civilian. Even as a governor, she did not do a very good job in protecting all of the financial interests that she is now complaining over. She made the second largest budget cut for construction which was $237 million. This represented more than three hundred plus state projects. She has been found to have “abused her power” by the Branchflower Report regarding the issue with her brother-in-law.She stated in her resignation speech that her dept was in part due to the defense of all of the cases brought against her about being “unethical”. However, something about this does not seem to ring true as to her reason to quit. If anything it should be an incentive to stay in office for the rest of her term-which is 18 months. Many past presidents and governors have faced multiple problems(both personal and political) but have stuck it out and in the end, made a great change or stride. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing personal against Palin-I’m not even from her state. I think she’s very pretty for her age, but that is not the point. Something regarding her past, her statements, her television facade just doesn’t seem to add up.There have been many rumors as to why she is quitting but all have been denied. Perhaps it is the yearning for another conspiracy theory but Palin’s resignation, I feel has much more behind it. I suppose only time will let us know the real reasons behind it.

Palin does leave the suspicion open as to whether or not she will run for president in the upcoming elections of 2012.
