During the 2008 presidential campaign, much hype was raised about Barack Obama, the man who would presumably mark a change in the way the United States Government operates. However, almost half a year has come, and we have yet to see that change.

Before the ‘08 presidential elections, it was likely that the Democratic nomination would go to Hillary Clinton, wife of former US President Bill Clinton. However, in various circles outside the media, Clinton became viewed as a marginal, radical activist, and it became clear that she would likely be unable to draw enough support to win an election. Therefore, the Democratic party needed a new candidate, one that they could draw popular support to, with some help from the media.

So never mind the fact that he was only elected in 2004 as a Senator from Illinois, in office for only 120 days while Congress was in session, because experience doesn’t really matter all that much. And despite the fact that he was trained as a lawyer, not a doctor or businessman, we’re sure he’s qualified to fix the national healthcare system, as well as the economy. As for the White House staff that looks eerily similar to the Clinton administration’s cabinet, and the policies that reek of Jimmy Carter, they’ve been painted over by the mass media as something progressive.

If you don’t support him, it’s only because you’re a racist is all.

Of course, it’s not like he just spent 1.6 trillion dollars in his first 3 months, to little or no effect. The entire cost of the New Deal, adjusted for inflation was only around 300 billion dollars. At no time during the 8 years of the depression under FDR’s administration did unemployment drop below 15%. The biggest stimulus package in American history, prior to Obama’s bill was a complete failure, so what is the logic? It obviously wasn’t big enough.

The stimulus package, in fact, cost almost as much as the entire financial cost of World War II on the United States, yet we have seen no effect on a recession that is nowhere near as serious as the Great Depression.

As for healthcare, just think about it for a minute. Do you really want government bureaucrats deciding which medical procedures that you are allowed to undergo? Which drugs you are allowed to take? It’s already a stretch putting the well-being of your property in the government’s hands; now your health as well?
