The left-wing liberal media panics – again.
Ever since a few days ago, when the Texas governor, Rick Perry, made the not-so-flippant comment (TWICE, apparently) about Texas succeeding if the Federal Government doesn’t shape up, people have stopped complaining about Bush making us safe long enough to flip out across the media- web space and TV alike.
Now, bloggers and v-loggers are saying everything from “Texas is indocternating there kidz to tink they r better than us!” to “My kids are in Texas! I’ll never see them again when Texas leaves the union!” to “I hate this state! It’s, like, super horrible to live here!” to “Go away! We hate you all anyway! The United States doesn’t need you!” But the worst part of it all is the fact that the rash of Texas-Terror has spread to the “professional” media as well.
Now, as far as I- the quintessential American media viewer- can tell, MSNBC picked up the story first; Chris Matthews tried to roast Texas Republican Tom Delay over the issue a few days ago, accusing Governor Perry of being a radical, for saying things “you just don’t say”. Apparently Mr. Matthews has conveniently forgotten how this country got started. Funny how bias works, isn’t it?
Out of the massively childishly reaction from most of the left-“wingers”- inside and out of Texas- several understandable questions have manifested. Sadly, none of the sane Texans seem to have stepped up to answer them, and as a result people who know nothing about Texas- (and some of the Texan left-wingers- they are an endangered species in some parts, granted, but that’s no excuse to forget them) are trying to answer them.
Since none of these people would know how to “reach across the aisle” if you spelled it out to them in flashing neon letters, their perception of the republican Governor’s point is at best skewered by bias, and at worst deliberately and maliciously twisted to best use against those who would oppose President Dear Leader’s wisdom.
The most asked question, in response to the “succession” “Can Texas even do that anyway?” is one of the most important questions, and- of course- the one with the largest assortment of answers. The true answer was best stated by Tom Delay, as he fended The Matthews’ Hissy Fit off with expertise- and I quote;
“Texas, as a republic, joined the union by treaty- there a process in the treaty by which Texas can divide into five states. If we invoke that- and the last time it was voted on was 1985- if we invoke that, the United States Senate would kick us out and nullify the treaty; they’re not going to allow ten new Texas senators into the Senate! That’s how you secede.”
Can we have a moment of applause?
This question, in my opinion, is the only one needing to be answered; what anyone thinks of Texas or Perry is unimportant; we can succeed, therefore what the Liberals and Socialists think isn’t important. So, while Matthews whined about “rebellion” and Texas “loonies” (oh, and let’s not forget when he blamed Texas for the Civil War, that was good) Delay made this lovely cut and clear point, which I think it the lynch pin of this whole thing;
“Enough is enough, and we aren’t going to take it anymore…we’re going to fight for the rights of Texas as a state, and the rights of Texans as US citizens… the tenth amendment is strong, and we’re going to defend it, and were going to fight for it.”
Amen.

Well, our governor does a nice job of embarassing us again and again here in the Lone Star State. I think the broader point is that he claims to be a patriot, while making these statements.
At least Palin’s Alaska secessionists didn’t bother to pretend to love America. Their founder said “The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. … And I won’t be buried under their damn flag.” Palin’s answer: “God bless you, and keep the good work.”
So, governor Perry, it’s America – love it or leave it. Frankly, I wouldn’t mind if you left it…
