Racism rears its head, real or not!
Barack Obama is a racist. He must be… look at that name! Why, he’s probably the mastermind behind Al Quada! The nerve of an African American, running for (and even winning!) the presidency of our great nation?
Now that I have your attention….
(for those who missed it, that opening was SARCASTIC)
Now, it’s no secret that Rush Limbaugh is a highly biased, right wing extremist who has been on a campaign to bash Obama from day one. He readily admits it. But to insinuate that this attack was somehow Obama’s fault was ludicrous, even by Limbaugh’s standards. And of course, he meant them to be. He is, after all, a media journalist. All this attention certainly doesn’t hurt his ratings. But somehow, due to the ‘miracle’ of widespread media, his words have been taken seriously. Was the attack racially motivated? Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that it was. How can people take something one step short of an Onion article seriously?
For the same reason they call Obama a racist because his stimulus package benefited a number of African Americans. If we stop to think about it… ever been to the inner city? Big surprise; Black people! More by far than white people! Could it have something to do with the fact that our socio-economic system has a tendency to push minorities to the bottom of the food chain? Perhaps his stimulus package helps minorities because it is intended to assist the poor and many of the poor are minorities! But no… many simply believe that he’s just trying to help his fellow minorities because, well… because they are minorities.
For the same reason he was labeled as a racist over the Skip Gates arrest and his statement regarding….
You can definitely see the man is supporting Mr. Gates because he is black. No other reason it could be! The fact that the man is who he is… or perhaps (as he opined the statement with) because it is a friend of his… I would share the exact same beliefs he projected here, and I’m just as white as you please.
And it doesn’t just go one way. Joe Wilson is now accused of being a racist for shouting “you lie!” during an Obama address. For as we all know, in some parts of the world, those words are synonymous with racism.
The bottom line here is that since it became apparent that Obama was going to become president, race has reared it’s ugly head in our society once more. If you don’t like Obama or his decisions, you must be a racist. Obama is a racist. The police who arrested Skip Gates were racist. The black kids on the bus were racists who beat the white kid up because he was a racist. Joe Wilson is a racist. Now Kanye West is a racist (instead of just a moron) Did I miss anyone? I did. I am a racist for writing this article. You are a racist for reading it. Do we not see how ridiculous this has become? Are we really stupid enough as a society that we allow people like Rush Limbaugh to take us back 50 years? Can we please grow up?
The man is our president. I voted for him. Is he a good president? Who knows? We may not be able to tell until we look back in a few decades. But let’s stop worrying about what color he is… because that concern is obviously trickling down into everyday society…. and worry about what kind of president he is, and what kind of country we are building.

I do not for one minute believe Obama is a racist nor do I believe Sentor Wilsons outburst Of “You lie” was a racist remark. I do however believe that The president is trying to force our great nation into socialism and that is where I have a problem with him. I understand that by claiming anyone who disagrees with Obama’s agenda is racist is a tactic that is designed to intimidate people to prevent them from exercising their right to speak out against his socialist policies. What is so ludicris about this tactic is that it is being employed by those who called our last president every name in the book and boo’d him as he stood before congress to give a state of the union address. I think that these people are disgustiong because of their hipocritical stance and the double standard they think they are intiled to.”Do as Isay not as I do.” That also includes Mr Obama who participated in the disrespect of the rules of civility in congress and the office of rhe president when he was a senator. However now these same people with Obama being the exception, have the unmitigated gall to reprimand senator Wilson for his remark. He has already apo;igized to the President who was gracious enough to accept that apology so tell the jerks in congress to get over it!!
A well presented, nice article, throwing light on the present state of political affairs of US.If caste system haunts India, it seems that racism is lurking its ugly head in the US.We should keep off from such social and political evils and it is our duty. Thanks for sharing.
Great article, politics and religion are very personal issues but you presented this article properly.
Very nice article, Mn! Limbaugh, does have some very good points. I will not elaborate on exactly what I think the good points are. I was extremely opposed to President Obama’s election, but I do admit that some of the things he has done were a pleasant surprise. However, there are tons of things that I would criticize him for. In Obama’s defense, the office of President is a difficult one in many facets. You can never please every single person… that is just a fact of life. Sadly, racism has existed since the dawn of time, and it will continue to exist until the end of time. As individuals we can give our best effort towards trying to lessen the effects, but it will never be eliminated. It exists towards all races, not just towards African-Americans, and not just towards Caucasians. It is a thorn in the sides of every person. In my opinion, politicians and society (alike) need to apply their criticism towards the existance of Racism in this light; they do not need to apply it towards just one race.
It is my observation that the greatest socialist of all time was the man Jesus. Jesus advocated economic Justice and social Justice for people throught the implications of the words he choose to use. Who then are those people who stand in opposition to policies which place people first? If the system is the beast (Capitalism unreformed) then those with the number of the beast in their forehead (narrow minded ways of thinking) are those opposed to JESUS’ implications. Now by no means do I think Jesus was anything more than a man, but I’m aware that the majority of people who make claims upon him are the exact opposite of his values and the health care controversy shows it clearly; Such people have been marked with the sign of the beast!
Well said Leonardo.
I think that the African American community will be disappointed in their first black president. He just doesn’t strike me as a poor black boy raised up from out of the projects.Oprah he is not.
Obama seems more like an idealist. And you know how the media love an idealist – first you set him up on a pedestal and then you knock him down. I hope he survives his term.
I applaud what you were trying to accomplish here. Race remains an issue because we choose to hang onto it…like a security blanket. There are many people who would lose good incomes if race were to evaporate. Rush Limbaugh and Al Sharpton come to mind.
Nice mnof
Well written, entertaining, and provocative article. I really enjoyed it. Some of the ensuing comments are enjoyable reading as well. Good job.
LOL. Great article. I completely agree, but what were we expecting? It\’s our first \’black\’ president. Let the racism witch hunts begin! Ha-ha! Rediculous…
Ameica loves drama…
Very well written.
Why feed the beast.
Very unlike AngelicaRaene, I believe that the time will come when all people (races) will live together in peace and harmony; when racism, hatred, violence, and crime will all be a thing of the past. \”Some people\”, like some of those I have seen here may not understand that, or they have no clue what this is all about, because they do not believe in the power of the Almighty God to unite his people here on the earth, and to bring it back to the original beautiful paradise that existed in the beginning. Hence they continue to fan the flames of racism, producing more hatred, deviciveness, and more vices. We are here to work together as a living organism: wherein all the organs cooperate to produce the desired effect; ie maintaining the life of the organism. The eye does not say I\’m better than the heart, because I help you to see where you are going. The heart does not say I\’m better than the brain because I pump the blood….etc.. So people need to get off this racism track and focus on the more important things. Barak Obama is a very talented man, extremely smart, and more than capable of leading the nation, regardless of the fact that he is black. But that is not even quite true. He is as much white as he is black. Remember?, 33 of the chromosomes that started his life are white and the other 33 are black.
Monica.
Leornardo, this is a verrrrrrrrrrrrrry very nice article. I love it. Not because I’m black (i’m not racist or am I?) but you hit the nail on the head its such an unnecessary part of the whole process – Race. nice piece.
even though I dont live there…I like Obama a lot…and he is not a racist for sure!!

Is the white part of black part of Obama racist? Need to ask. I have a brown nephew I need to talk to about this.
Very well written, mn.
Sorry I do not think that attending to the need of minorities that have been gathering in inner cities makes Obama racist. I think the man is addressing issues that have long been neglected. This is distorted logic. Call his predecessor racist for neglecting the needs of black Americans in New Orleans after Katrina because they were and are black, and now the bugger has come to speak in this country, I would love to kick him out, with his talk of doing good for America while its soldiers die for nothing a world away and he leaves his successor, Obama with a ton of deficits!!At least he is attempting to improve the health care and create incentives for recovery in the US. This does not make Obama a saint because he was also a part of the double standards created while working as a senator under Bush but there has been a call for positive change!
I am tired of hearing about the African race, the Hispanic race, the white race etc….We have become a world of different races. What everyone seems to forget is, we are a world of different cultures, but we are one race…the human race. I wish everyone one could see each other by what lays behind the skin.
Most everyone in the world has been met with racism at one time or another. Maybe you were too heavy, or too plain looking or maybe you were financially deprived. The list is endless.
After black slavery there was white slavery, and child slavery. White women and daughters were sold to brothels. There were and still are being kidnapped and shipped overseas and sent to place in our own country, for sexual exploitation. Tragedy has touched every culture. Poor men were targeted as well, and the Klu Klux Clan, victims were anyone that wasn’t rich, protestant white men. Any person that finds them-selves superior to another is shameful and wrong, but there will always be narrow minded morons that think they are better than others, the best way to disarm them is to ignore them. We as a society will never be able to move forward if we keep looking back.
I am a white American white woman, and nothing has ever been given to me. I have no opportunities, simply because I am white, I have no step ups, and I am provided poor medical care because I have no insurance. I do know what discrimination is, and have suffered it in school, in society, and in the work place. I know women who have worked jobs all of their lives to retire to a fraction of what a male counterpart receive.
As far as I can tell we are all minorities. I wish we could all just get along and play nice.
Ah politics and some difficult issues raised here.
Mn,
Good article, But, you forgot one person; Serina Williams is also a racist because she threatened to shove the ball down down that woman’s throat. After being threatened by Serina Williams, the woman said that Serina threatened to kill her, so you know the lady must be a racist too. LOL!
Great article, ManofDichotomy.
Ya know I’ve found that the best way to shut people like Limbaugh up is to completely ignore them….or use well-crafted sarcasm to put them down. People like Limbaugh get their kicks off of getting underneath other people’s skin and when the media throws an uproar over yet another one of his crazy, unsubstantiated remarks it only inflates his ego. It’s like the old saying, “Sometimes the best defense is no defense”….it’ll show him precisely how insignificant he really is. Somehow, though, by the way this country really loves controversy, I don’t see anyone really using this method against him.
