The Governator perhaps isn’t quite at the approval numbers he thinks he is. Californians are finally done with the “Schwarzenegger/Shriver Dynasty”.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to have a foothold on the pulse of California. What he doesn’t realize, is that he’s wrong.
I spoke with Brian Joseph of the Orange County Register today. He is their Bureau Chief of State Government. I asked for his help in perhaps printing an article regarding the possible 4th and 5th furlough days that SEIU 1000 fears will be coming sooner rather than later. I received the following response:
“SEIU does alot of things for political posturing. There is absolutely NO truth to there being possibly a fourth & fifth furlough day for state employees, it’s going to stay at 3 and that’s all there is to it. The governor addressed that today up on the hill and if that’s what the governor has said, that’s the way it’s going to be.”
When asked why the governor then implemented a 2nd and 3rd furlough days after contract negotiations specifically mandated only one day, I received no response at all. I politely ended the call and realized that the OC Register is more a friend to the Governor’s office than they are to actually reporting the truth. They’re definitely no friend to the SEIU.
I’ve also spoken to several Californians, some famous, some not so famous. I spoke with one individual in Los Angeles who stated “It’s terrible what the governor is doing to state employees. And it’s not just state employees, it’s also K-12 teachers and college professors that are affected by his blatant abuse of power.”
Another individual in Riverside, CA stated the same sentiment about K-12 teachers and how her husband is affected as well even though he works in transportation.
I also had a few words with actress/supermodel Kathy Ireland. Although she doesn’t give endorsements anymore, she did have the following to say about our governor:
“My voice means no more to the Gov. than any voter. The last time we had dinner at a friends home, he barely said hi to me!”
This indicates to this reporter that the “Governator” feels he is above his roots and that Hollywood is far beneath him now. Even after such movies as the Terminator series, True Lies and Eraser made him famous. This reporter only has one thing to really say about our governor here in California – Thank God he can’t run for President.
