Have you heard of the 9/12 project? If not, then you probably wasn’t one of the over million Glen Beck viewers tuned into Fox. Let me explain the project, and then you decide if it is more media hoopla or a worthwhile cause.
This past Friday Mr. Beck announced his 9/12 project. The point of the project begins by looking at 9/10, and then discovering how to get back to the way Americans felt on 9/12. On 9/10 life was normal and partisan politics was alive and kicking. On 9/11 Americans were hysterical, and no one knew what to do. But, by 9/12 no one had to tell Americans what to do. We sat aside our politics, religion, skin color, etc.. and “just did it.” Americans gave everything they could from their blood, money, and time. So, the main point of the project is to bring America out of divisiveness and back to working together for a common purpose….our freedom and prosperity. 9/10 can be compared to pre-economic crisis, 9/11 as today, and 9/12 as what we do in the future.
Now, there is much more to the 9/12 project. For example, many Americans feel like the average everyday Jane and Joe go unheard and unrecognized. After all, there are thousands of special interest groups working for those with power and money. Mr. Beck asks us to stop looking for the special interest group to represent us. Instead, he reminds us that we (all together) have the strongest voice of all. We have the power to rock Washington, not with politics, but with principles and values. He used a great example of the power of this concept. The week prior to the program he asked his viewers to send in a picture of themselves if they felt this way. He received so many pictures that it shut down the Fox News server 6 times. He then took just a fraction of those photos to make a huge “We The People” mosaic. A picture (like one voice) is just a picture, but many pictures (like many voices) is a powerful statement saying we will be seen….we will be heard!
I wanted to share the 9 principles and 12 values that Glenn Beck come up with. These are quoted from the Glen Beck website.
The Nine Principles
- “America is good.”
- “I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.”
- “I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.”
- “The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.”
- “If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.”
- “I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.”
- “I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.”
- “It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.”
- “The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.”
12 Values
- “Honesty”
- “Reverence”
- “Hope”
- “Thrift”
- “Humility”
- “Charity”
- “Sincerity”
- “Moderation”
- “Hard Work”
- “Courage”
- “Personal Responsibility”
- “Gratitude”
Now, I do not always agree with Mr. Beck. However, I can say that I fully subscribe to his 9/12 project. To me, this is about starting in the home to get your own priorities and values in order. Then, you can reach out to like minded people to create change with a voice that must be heard. This isn’t about politics, but rather about creating a sense of responsibility, accountability, pride, and ability….starting with yourself. What do you think?

I agree with you Jo, all of the principles and values here are things we should all try to live our life to. I’d not heard of this project, thanks for sharing, very worthwhile.
Hello ta so much for all your lovely comments on my work, very much appreciated thankyou.
Really enjoyed this piece of your work,very informative and a good read……………….thankyou for sharing.
I was amazed at how quickly it became popular to be an American after 911, I was so happy to see Americans proud to be American. Let us unite behind our flag and our country!
Very effective article for making your point. I wrote a poem a while back called The Power of One which subscribes to the same theory. It all begins with the power of one, and in this case that one is me. Strength in numbers begins with the number one.
I have to agree with your point of view … very nicely written !
Ok, I’m in!
I haven’t heard of this before. But I think they’re pretty good, maybe they’re not suitable for certain individuals. You always bring us a very interesting NEWS here, thanks for being a good reporter here.
I agree that if we stick together and speak up as a unit we will be heard. The problem is getting people to do that. We all have our different opinions and we splinter off in too many groups.But I guess that is what freedom is all about.
i’ve never heard of the project either, but it sounds like a pretty good one:) very interesting:)
Used to be able to see the Twin Towers from my house in the hills in NJ. Interesting idea.
Great article, lots of good information here.

I want to join the 912 Project but do not know how. Please let me know.
I’m a member of the DAR whose ancestors fought and died for our freedom in the Revolutionary War. It seems to be my time to follow them if I must. My grandchildren deserve to live in freedom.
I saw the website not too long ago…In times like these, it is important to remember who we are as people and as a nation and this site looks to be a good reminder.
Love him and the project. Thanks for letting the world know
Hm.
* “America is good.” – Not always. My Lai, anyone?
* “I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.” I’m an atheist, you fool.
* “I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.” Okay, that works.
* “The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.” Ultimate authority in what? In personal matters? In that case, yes, but in trade policy? Are you the ultimate authority in that?
* “If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.” Good.
* “I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.” And we must work to achieve equally good results for everyone.
* “I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.” I’m not sure here. I’m not one to be charitable, but I understand taxes so we can have social programs and schools.
* “It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.” Yep.
* “The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.” Yep.
* “Honesty”
* “Reverence”
* “Hope”
* “Thrift”
* “Humility”
* “Charity”
* “Sincerity”
* “Moderation”
* “Hard Work”
* “Courage”
* “Personal Responsibility”
* “Gratitude”
All good stuff there.
(Half of these values are from the Boy Scout Law!)
