Approaching Civil War

 Someone living in the Western world might not even have heard and probably wouldn’t care about the Communist Party of India(Maoist). To them I’d like to tell that this is an extreme left Organization whose presence is now noticed in many parts of India. It is officially banned but its Armed fighters have taken over many areas and in many districts there is hardly any sign left of the Indian Establishment.

The no. of their fighters is known to be at least around 10000 with a few more thousand volunteers. They were formed in 2004 with the merger of 2 extremist communist parties. The Maoists are also know as Naxals locally in India due to the fact that a maoist uprising took place in a place called Naxalbari in the West Bengal state of the Indian Union.

Many Indian leaders have realized that the Maoists pose a grave threat to there Establishment so some operations have taken place to flush them out. But in all operations either the Indian Police or a combination of the Indian Police with their Paramillitary forces are used. My personal view is that the Indian police is not trained enough to tackle the Maoists and they are not properly equipped. The Maoists on the other hand are experts in Guerrilla warfare and have previously proven their capabilities. The Army has not been used yet but as the situation continues the worsen it seems that soon the Indian Government might not have any other option left. The Indian Air Force too is not effectively used to fight the Rebels.

Many News Channels and News Papers have shown the threat posed by the CPI(Maoist) but none have probably gone over the idea of Civil War. The Maoists are not like other rebels, restricted to one specific region, their war is being waged in many different states of India. So basically I presume that in some time like around a couple of year we’ll have a full blown Civil War in the World’s Largest Democracy.
