President Barak Obama has ordered a small group of U.S. soldiers dispatched to Africa to aid the Ugandan government in tracking down LRA Leader Joseph Kony. Kony is the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army, a militant group opposing the Ugandan government.
The President of the United State, Barak Obama has deployed 100 troops to help Ugandan government track down and end the reign of militant leader Joseph Kony. Kony is leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army, and has reportedly engaged in terrorist acts against civilians of Uganda and the surrounding regions for over 2 decades.
The US troops have been sent to advice and lend their support to current government efforts to capture Joseph Kony and put and end to the LRA. While, fully armed and prepared for battle, these troop will only engage in the case of self-defense. The Lord’s Resistance Army is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths, sexual assaults upon women and children, abductions, and mutilations.
The Lord’s Resistance Army was established in 1987 as a religious military group, claiming to be lead by the Holy Spirit of God. Their fundamental objectives were to remove dictatorship and stop the oppression the Ugandan people, fight for democracy, end violation of human rights, restore peace, ensure unity, and end the repressive policies geared against the LRA ideology. While, the LRA sees themselves as a religious movement, based on the Ten Commandments of God; the United States, shortly after 9/11, declared the group as nothing more than a terrorist group.
Somewhere alone the line, seems this group has strayed from it’s path, supposedly of Christian values, with practices that are criminal and a violation of the human rights that they claim to be trying to protect. The militant group is said to be made up of about 3,000 soldiers, probably many more, which are mostly children. The children, boys and girls, are abducted from schools, homes and villages and forced on to the frontlines. The casualty rate is high for this army, but, is steadily replenished by raiding nearby villages, often massacring teachers and families, as they abduct more children. It is believed that over 100,000 children have been captured and used in LRA’s military efforts.
Joseph Kony, about 50 years old, the leader of the LRA, preaches a distorted gospel. Telling his troops that they can mark themselves with crosses and rub holy oil on their chests to shield them from bullets. His message is steeped in superstition and mysticism. He is reported to have over 60 wives and over 40 children.
President Obama’s deployment of troops comes two years after he signed into law, in May 2009, the ‘Lord’s Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act.’ The bill passed unanimously in the Senate on March 11, 2010, then again, unanimously in the House of Representative on May 13, 2010. Today, President Barak Obama has taken physical action to bring down Joseph Kony and the LRA and put an end to over 24 years of terrorist atrocities.

fantastic article good sir
Thanks for sharing
It should be interesting to see how that develops.
I agree Mega. I would love to see what 100 troops can do against a group that’s existed for over 20 years. It may not be too hard considering most of the army are children. Hopefully, none of them are hurt in the process.
He’s leading a cult.
