We should always remember that it is not the immigrants that are a menace because most of them are here legally and contributing their portion. It is the illegal, the opportunist and the politically motivated ones who are the cause of the problem and concern.

One of the UK daily newspaper, THE INDEPENDENT, asked for comments whether the British National Party should be given a media platform or not and here is what the response is from the public. I am reproducing excerpts from the printed text.

Diane Messias says:

Of course they should…… It is more dangerous for them to operate ‘underground’. By holding them up to greater scrutiny, the electorate will see what their true aims are, underneath their current denials of abject racism, and just how ugly their attitude is to a liberal, tolerant British Society.

Tim Philips writes:

Like it or not, BNP is a legal democratic party that represents a movement…..debates have been so skewed against them that almost everything they say is taken to be bigoted………I will tell you that I am a BNP supporter.

Gwilym Prydderch from Cardiff:

I think it is essential to expose this vile party’s hypocrisy.

Keith Williams from Walthamstow:

…..Ask some tough questions on how their ideas would actually work, how the NHS function without immigrant workers……and their house of cards would fall down very quickly.

Sylvia Howard has emails:

…..We all vote BNP. We do not hate anyone but what happened over the past 40 years has been unprecedented. We have seen this country change beyond recognition since the Second World War. Yes immigrants made an important contribution to this country. And this would have been fine had it been carefully monitored. Instead we have allowed 1000s from the ‘third world’ without a thought of the consequences.

Neil McCart from Cheltenham writes:

The BNP has hijacked the union flag and dress their xenophobic hatred as patriotism. I feel there is a need for interviews…….but also for physical demonstrations to remind the BNP that to most decent citizens of the UK their odious ideas are utterly repugnant.

Dr Kreil says:

………..Nick Griffin is right when he thinks “the more successful we become, the more opponents will have to co-opt our policies”. For a small party, media coverage is fantastic publicity, no matter whether it is positive or negative.

Peter Gompertz from Melbourne, Australia inputs:

If you look past the race policies of BNP, close inspection of what they stand for chimes completely with what the left-wing white working class, who have been abandoned by their Labour Party, want.

Colin Rumsey writes:

Drowning the voice of the BNP is anti-democratic and what I would exect to happen in a fascist state………If you think BNP is so bad, give them a platform and let them destroy themselves.

Shouvik Datta from Orpington, Kent pens down:

I found it interesting that many of Nick Griffin’s opinions, for example repatriation back to the country of origin would help the country where the immigrants are originally from.……….that the BNP is actually racist in its constitution: even if I agreed with BNP onions (which I don’t), I would not be able to join it because of my Indian ethnic origin. These membership requirements reveal more than anything, the true nature of the BNP.

MY COMMENTS ON THE ABOVE ARE:

Every country has a party who tend to vest their power in the minds of those that have been wronged or deprived and they need to shift the blame. If globalization is the new world order, then the issue of immigrants and nationalism stands no where.

As we are gaining grounds on shattering economic and communication barriers, we are loosing it on social fronts. Democracy looks nice as a word but difficult to implement once the opinion of the majority rules, who is bold enough to accept this decision?

Instead the minority tends to bolster their grievance of not being able to gather enough support through exploiting social differences amongst tolerant multicultural societies.

They seek examples from real life events, magnify them in their own purpose built amplifiers and then broadcast them on loud speakers with customized frequency only to be heard by the aggrieved.

Yesterday UK wanted immigrants because she was short of skills and workforce and today she doesn’t want them because the economy is in tatters and the locals are not getting opportunities.

So what is this monopolistic competition going on? If the immigrants have played their part in the economy building, then why not understand and accept that right to abode with pride and dignity?

The face of Great Britain might have been different from what it is today had it not been the timely injection of the immigrant work force, by the then think tanks, to bring in the much necessary skills and manpower.

We should always remember that it is not the immigrants that are a menace because most of them are here legally and contributing their portion. It is the illegal, the opportunist and the politically motivated ones who are the cause of the problem and concern.

And lastly, but not the least, majority of the immigrants are from countries which have been under British rule for a major part of their historic existence.

I am sure if BNP (I take BNP as a state of mind and less as a party) did not object the British going there to rule at that time, then it should not resist them coming over here and living a healthy peaceful life.
