Reviewing of how as a nation we got started and how power and greed took hold, but as a great people we over come. Our chance to still over come by electing a candidate without concern for gender or race in this modern election.
America the land that I love, home of the free and the brave my home. America is the most beautiful country on earth from sea to shining sea. All these words written about my country by famous people make me proud to be an American. Like every other nation, we have our faults but I would rather be an American in America than is anyone else in any other part of the world. You may think I am boasting too much but everyone should take great pride in his or her country. Every American should be proud to stand up and say I am an American! You should review all the greatness that this country affords you but be not blind also recognize the things that are wrong and try to fix them. Too many times a nation dies because the citizens forget how great they have it and how much the nation has provided over the centuries. Citizens this is your call to arms! Stand up with pride fail not to forget your roots! When our country was just a young sapling, many of our compatriots fought and died so that today you might have a free nation.
America is a free nation with many liberties. Like all great nations, we earned our freedom by the blood of our ancestors. Like other great nations, before us let us not loose these rights by our callousness. Let not anyone tell you that what we do as a nation or as a people is hypocritical. The choice is yours my friend open the door to the past and to your hearts. This brief review of our nation’s history meant as a revelation to all. We need to recognize the seed of violence and dishonesty that grew along with the beautiful seed of honesty, antiparty, and love that helped us become a nation of people that we are today.
In the beginning, we started out as pioneers working hard to cross the prairies, mountains, waters, deserts, valleys, and canyons to settle the land. Our pioneer were noted as God fearing people, who worked very hard and lost life in sickness, accidents and by the hand of the wild savages that lived in this land already. Stop! Why did we call the American Indian wild savages? Our greed to maintain this land and all it is riches out weighed our responsibility to teach the American Indian about God and the values we hold so dear. The American Indian lied too, cheated, killed and otherwise we tried to exterminate all of them. Yes, we were a hard working group of immigrants who fought our way into homes, schools, churches, and political arena that no other nation in the world had ever seen.
Our towns and cities growth depended on railways, water transportation and the like to develop. We had very rich and knowledgeable people to obtain this for the good of the entire nation. We looked the other way when they took some of the hard-earned farms from the pioneers who had sacrificed so much. We looked the other way when they enslaved men of other races to build the railways. We had great farms, ranches and plantations that provided cotton, food, and other needed things that help our great nation grow. Some of these great many places survived on the slavery of others because if you were not white then you were available as a person who could work. The backbone of some states grew on the backs of the American Black people. At one time, it was a crime to teach the American Black people to read and write. We as free Americans were afraid that if American Blacks learn to read and write they would take over and rule. Yet during this time, most American Blacks remained as true citizens taking part in our wars and our innovative ways. The American Indian proved their abilities as humans with the right to be an American. The American Indian proved his language would be the salvation of our country. Like all great nations, we have our great flaws. Over the centuries, we have proven time after time that, we hold many prejudices against each other not only in color or race but also in religion and gender. We have also proven in a time of crisis we band together uniting as one great nation. We have proven that we can live side by side as neighbors in peace. We over come our difficulties to become the greatness the world admires. Let us continue to work towards that end so that our nation will always stand for freedom and bravery.
We as a nation have fought on every shore to prove that we want to keep our freedoms and to help others become free men and women. Our women have had to fight in order to find their place in society as well. The women’s suffrage movement granted the female the right to vote amongst other things. Today we have two great candidates in our political arena who are running to lead our great nation. Hilary Clinton is truly a great American Women who is more than capable of being the leader of this great nation and we should not turn her down because of her gender. We should evaluate her for her accomplishments and abilities. We also have another candidate Mr. Obama who is a great Black American with many accomplishments and abilities to be leader of our great nation. We should not fault him because of his color or ethnic background instead look at his capabilities. It is time that our nation took the lead in the world today and proved that we are great and we do follow our beliefs. The things that happened in the past should remain in the past and it is time we took a giant step forward. America love it and believe in its values be a real American.

I really like this article it brings out things that many of us sweep under the rug. We should be more concerned during election that we are voting for the best possible canadate not because of gender, race, or ethnic background. We should not rule someone out simply because they do not fit the normal mode of American President. This was an eye opening article.
In this day of political and religious upheavel this article makes a lot of sense to the background of our country. The problems remain the same even though the wise one’s in the country are very aware of them. Will their ever be any hope?
I liked the comparisons and the truths brought out in this article. I do hope that more news and history articles will arise from this author.
Dear readers,
With the onset of our nation starting a new era with the election of Obama we are able to add to our history and prayerfully it will only be in a good way. We shall watch and wait, but prayer may make us stronger. God Bless,
Dear Shirley,
I think that it is always important for us to review our roots upon occassion so many times we forget about the greatness this nation become and how to remain so.–Debbie
