Cash for clunkers – or perfectly good cars?

I was watching Glenn Beck on TV today when I realized this cash for clunkers thing isn’t all that great. There are over 100 pages of “requirements” that your vehicle has to meet to be a “clunker” and basically your “clunker” has to be a perfectly good car. You can’t actually turn in a “clunker”. It should be called the “cash for your brand new car that has absolutely nothing wrong with it” bill, not the “cash for clunkers” bill. Also, the vehicle has to have its engine destroyed and it must be crushed within 48 hours.

Okay, what’s the point of this bill? The $2,000,000,000 that the government had to give us for our cars is already gone anyway! The program is broke! We’re giving our perfectly good cars away and the people that work at the “clunker” factories are going to lose their jobes. I will admit, this has been very good for many states, but in some cases it just doesn’t seem logical.
