At this very moment the two most prominent people in the US Democratic election are the New York senator and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, and the Illinois senator and best-selling author Barack Obama.
Are the differences between Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama that big? If they aren’t, what will determine the outcome of the election? Personality? Charisma? Image?
Barack Obama’s Stance on the War in Iraq
Barack Obama has voiced his opinions of the way President Bush has run the war in Iraq.
The most interesting part is that when they were given the chance to enact Senator Russ Feingold’s measure ordering Bush to withdraw most U.S. troops by July 1, 2007, both Clinton and Obama voted no. Now this is most interesting. Does it make you wonder why they voted no?
Perhaps we may never find out.
Hilary Clinton’s Stance on the War in Iraq
Interestingly, Hilary Clinton has also voiced her opinions of the War in Iraq. She disagrees with President Bush also. What else, when there was a congressional resolution authorizing Bush to use force in Iraq, she did vote for that resolution.
Although they share the same thoughts on this issue, there are some other things that they disagree on. For example:
- NAFTA
- Health Care
- Trade
So if they are so very similar, why does it matter to chose between the two?
Corriveau said, when asked the difference between the two:
“… appears to be judgment versus experience: Sen. Obama’s media blitz portrays him as the candidate for change – youthful and charismatic – he even took a page from the Clinton handbook using “Hope” in his book title. Sen. Clinton is an accomplished senator, master political tactician and invaluable asset to the party.”
So who is going to win? It’s a close battle, and the winner will almost surely be only a hair’s breadth from the loser.

A very concise and well written article. It really showed the similarities between these two superpowers.
Nice work!
