We will look forward to seeing how the “new” plan works. He seems to be preparing well with a variety of seemingly good appointments. Hillary notwithstanding. I wonder how that will work out (oil and water comes to mind).

Listen to the news. Although a great deal of predicting and planning are going on with the political entities bustling about exhibiting their own importance the entire scene makes a citizen realize how insignificant her opinion is. Sure – she voiced it when she voted. As she voted for change and a new beginning she didn’t realize how much regression would occur. Do they think no one notices except the “talking heads” who many don’t listen to? Will Hillary be Secretary of State? Of course she is highly qualified but then there is her “baggage” in the person of husband Bill. Can he be hauled off the world podium circuit long enough to serve the government again?

Barack Obama is an impressive guy and with the circumstances being favorable, he will make a functional President. Some say they haven’t seen this much charisma in one man since the days of Camelot (presided over by JFK and RFK). The duet of Camelot princes would have been a trio if not for the Mary Jo Kopeckne tragedy all those years ago. Still Teddy Kennedy has served his country long and well as a Senator. He’s admirable in the way he handles what must be a painful and depressing health situation. We wish him well.

Now back to the business at hand. Barack Obama had strength instilled into him by a strong mother from day one. His speaking talents easily cover his inexperience in such matters as foreign affairs. However, since George W has caused the United States to be held in contempt around the entire planet, what further harm could President Elect Obama do? We can only improve our status in the global community. Plus he seems to give careful consideration of his cabinet choices so far.

I once heard a speech by incoming First Lady Michelle Obama. She responded with a smile to a question about what she thought when she first met President Elect Obama, “What mother would name her child Barack Obama?”

We can somewhat jokingly compare it to the old Johnny Cash song “A Boy Named Sue” in which he claimed dealing with having that name helped to make him strong. It would be interesting to know how our President Elect felt about the name he was given as a child. Did it cause any problems for him in school for instance? It doesn’t seem to have had a negative effect.

Now we can only pray that he:

* Facilitates the creation of new jobs

* Brings about governmental cohesiveness

* Never degrades the Presidency by cheating on his wife

And last but certainly not least – doesn’t forget to keep his puppy promise to the first daughters.
