Republican Rally with Rudy Giuliani

On October 21, 2008, Rudy Giuliani visited our McCain/Palin headquarters in Boardman, Ohio. The once quiet, staffed area was filled with workers and interested friends who had been informed of his visit. When I looked up from my seat next to the podium, I saw Rudy Giuliani enter through the doors and escorted to the podium. My television image of him was not disappointed.

He stands about 5 feet, six inches tall and is physically tuned up with no excess body weight. He was not smiling and very intent on spiritually motivating his co-workers to keep their focus on the work at hand, electing the parties candidate McCain. What I sensed about him was a magnetic effusion of energy and my friend sitting next to me called it an “aura”.

After his debriefing, he accepted chats with us. I found the courage to step up about less than five steps and stood shoulder to shoulder with Rudy. I waited politely for him to finish with another co-worker and expected him to turn and see who was brushing up against his shoulder. He wasn’t in the least upset with the nearness of my presence and kept signing and talking to other workers. Well, I found myself almost as complacent as Rudy with my post right behind him I know it sounds absurd but I was naturally being his shadow.

Finally when some other workers looked up at me, I opened my mouth and said, “Mr. Giuliani?” He didn’t even look at me and he obviously heard, cause I was in his ear

Then I said, “Rudy”?

He turned his face towards me with as solemn a look as you could imagine.

I gave him the script page that I had been working from and he signed it. I’m sure that we exchanged conversation and I a slight hug on my part. He is a very lovable man.
