South Carolina Governor Returns From Mysterious Trip and Admits to an Affair

Questions started about the whereabouts of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford earlier this week.  No one for sure knew where he was.  His wife and other officials told the media that he was away hiking the Appalachian Trials. 

Then on Wednesday morning he was spotted by reporters at Atlanta Airport and cornered.  Where he reveled he had been on a 7-day trip to Argentina.  Later at a press conference he comes clean to an affair.  Where he secretly went to Argentina to meet his mistress Maria.  Late on Wednesday steamy e-mails were found between Sanford and Maria.  Sanford tearfully apologized to his wife and kids saying that he has let them down. 

Governor Sanford has resigned as head of the Republican Governors Association.  Also State Rep. Todd Rutherford, D- Columbia, called for Sanford’s resignation as Governor.  With many citizens angry with Sanford’s decision for leaving secretly.  For many of them complain what if a disaster happened how would he be contacted and return?  How irresponsible of him. 

So how does Governor Sanford know his mistress Maria?  Sanford describes her as a dear, dear friend.  They have known each other for eight years, but has only be romantically together for a year now.  The two have seen each other only three times since the affair started.  While now Sanford says that the affair is over.

With all that Sanford’s wife would leave him for good, right?  Wrong, she has asked Sanford to leave and stop talking to her.  Although she has remarked that he has earned a chance to resurrect their marriage.  So what will happen next?  I think Maria will still be their every once and a while.
