The Electoral College Failed Us

The EC was designed by the founding fathers to protect us from an uninformed electorate making a bad choice for president. It failed.
Over the years I have heard one politician after another damn the Electoral College and complain how it could allow a candidate who did not get a plurality in the popular vote to be elected as president. Each time the college has either elected a candidate who did not get a majority vote or if there was some doubt it would happen during the campaign there was an outcry. And each time the politicians vowed to eliminate the pesky constitutional requirement by a constitutional amendment but as soon as the election was over they got involved in business as usual, graft, corruption and the like, and forgot their own rhetoric. After all, the Electoral College could benefit their party the next time and they would be blamed for messing with it.
To understand this we have to go back and ask, “Why didn’t the founding fathers just let the popular vote carry it? Why did they include this complex process?”
Look at the answer. The founding fathers were wisely concerned that an uninformed populace might just elect someone who was totally unsuitable for the office! The Electoral College was to provide a backstop for the electorate in this event. Quirks in the system have been criticized. Even worse, additional ones have been introduced by states including convoluted rules for their delegates.
But in 2008 the Electoral College failed. Remember that it’s purpose was to prevent an uninformed electorate from electing someone who was not qualified or unsuitable to be the president. And in December 2008 it did just that.
Let’s look at the man who they elected and why this error occurred.
First, in case you didn’t notice, B Hussein Obama is one half white, one half Afro-American. This is not in any way a consideration and in fact should not have been a consideration in this or any election. If it is, the election is fraudulent and tainted. BO is in fact an illegitimate, illegal and unqualified president as the result of this election. It was the Electoral College’s DUTY to override the popular vote! If you have any doubt of this, look at the way the election was handled, the press, BO’s own staff, illegal campaign contributions and the like.
Second, look at how people treat him. Neither the press nor the party vetted BO. He was given a pass by every news agency INCLUDING Fox News who he conveniently avoided. Only one forum pressed him with tough questions, Saddleback Church and I am sure he wished he hadn’t gone there. They never asked any wrong questions, just tough ones and he flunked the test. Why didn’t they give him the hard questions like the ones they gave Hillary or the others? I remember Bill complaining they were mistreating his Little Hillary and for nearly the first time in my life, I was agreeing with Bill. The press was asking the right questions of Hillary but not of BO. Were they practicing affirmative action? It looks like it. Were they giving him a break for past injustices? God help us if we put someone who was not the best choice in office to balance racial quotas.
Third, look at the man. Martin Luther King said that a man should be judged by his character, not the color of his skin. I am sure Dr. King would be happy to see an Afro-American in the White House but I am betting he is looking down and saying, “Why him? Why didn’t they pick someone with character and integrity?” Look at another Black leader, Jessie Jackson. He dislikes BO enough that he would like to perform some surgery on him. Look at BO’s statements praising the dishonest Governor of Illinois, a 1970’s terrorist, a dishonest businessman from Chicago and a racist pastor he sat under for 20 years. Let’s look at the people who praised him, Wright the racist, Ferrican the anti-Semite, Ayres the terrorist, to mention a few. I get concerned when bad men say good things about someone and they say good things about bad men. I look at how he trashed Clarence Thomas fine man. I remember the way he trashed Hillary Clinton, saying she didn’t know anything about foreign policy and is now naming her to Secretary of State. One time or the other he was wrong. As the bible says about the King Nebuchadnezzar, “His is weighed in the balances and found wanting.” And the words of his own mouth are the most damning testimony against him.
Fourth, I look at those a man surrounds himself with. Are they men and women of character or are they common rabble? Let’s start with Jeremiah Wright, Ayres, Hillary Clinton, and Michelle Obama (I call her Mo for short) just to mention a few. This is certainly not a banner group.
Fifth, His citizenship is in question. I really think he has valid citizenship but one thing nags at me. He could have laid all of that to rest by producing the birth certificate. He didn’t have to appease the detractors. He could have given it to several news outlets to see, to photocopy and verify. A good move would have been chose two groups like Reuters and Fox. Why them? Reuters has a world wide reputation for integrity and they are not tainted by being in the U.S. Fox would have been an ideal choice because they were anti-Obama but they also have integrity. They would have LOOKED HARD for something wrong but they would have reported the truth. It would have cleared the air and his presidency would have had one less piece of baggage. It has enough with Wright, Ayres and the other assorted rabble that keeps coming out of the woodwork. We have a man who is going to sit in the oval office who could not have gotten the lowest security clearance because of associations.
Sixth, With the governor of Illinois being arrested and BO being a member of his mutual admiration society, what is the chance that BO will be a co-defendant? His fitness to hold the office is as questionable as is the governors.
Now I am going to be called a racist. I will categorically deny that. I am not. In fact, I am probably among the few in this country who is not. Tens of thousands of people voted against BO because he is black. If we are going to look at that, which I know is wrong, he is only half black so that reason is bunk. On the other hand about fifty percent of black voters voted for him because he is black. Allow me to restate what I just said about whites who voted against him for that reason and reverse it. If we are going to look at that, which I know is wrong, he is only half black so that reason is bunk. And worse, no matter if he is red, yellow, black, white or green that is a wrong reason to cast a vote, either for or against.
Some will say, “How can you be so sure people voted for these reasons?” It is easy. In polls that asked about issues, more than fifty percent of blacks DISAGREE with his stand on most major issues. Why would they vote for a man who repudiates most of what they believe? I’ll let you figure it out. Just as bad are red neck Democrats who would have voted for the donkey if he were on the ballot who voted against Obama. Many of these didn’t even know there was a lever on the voting machine for anyone but a democrat till this election. And they voted republican because he was black. I despise them even though they voted the right way.

It was a new topic for me…and I found it very interesting and nicely written…though some parts seem tobe controversial as they always remain when it comes to elections.
If you want to see something controversial think about what happens if BO is arrested for federal crimes while president elect….
