Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama today for president. I don’t think too many people were really surprised because Colin Powell is known as a well-thinking man. He carefully thought out the process for who would be the best president for the country.
Three points stuck out the most with Powell’s decision:
- Sarah Palin- Colin Powell established the importance in the Vice Presidency. It is not a popularity contest but it is the second highest office in the free world and the candidate must be ready from day one because that is their actual job description.
- John McCain’s Vice President choice shows his judgment and the choices he would make as the President of the United States. Regardless of the reasons we like or dislike Sarah Palin, we all know that there are more qualified Republican candidates for the job. McCain is attempting to play on America’s emotions for a female candidate and not taking qualifications into consideration.
- The most important point that Colin Powell made in his selection choice is the fact that Barack Obama has the ability to move America into a much needed new direction. New ideas and new theories is just what America needs at this time. Our old way of thinking is getting us nowhere. And it is time for a change in America.
It is time for America to move into a new direction and Barack Obama is the man that can take us there.
