True Republicans and Liberal Democrats: Shame on YOU!

SHAMEFUL, isn’t it. Anyway, first let me apologize to my followers and others who will read this verbal spanking of the children who we voted into power. This article will not have my usual boring facts and figures although I will attempt to keep what I pray you see as dry humor and sound reasoning rather than the amusing rantings of a madman.

I wrote this article last year during the last crisis when the government was facing a shut-down.   We had no budget, several major bills were hung up, all of Bush’s tax cuts were about to expire, the country was in bad shape and the Democrats and Republicans were at logger-heads; they solved the problem with compromise.  The new Congress was installed with the Republicans taking a sharp swing to the far right and the Democrats lost a lot of power.  We are now at an even bigger crisis, one is the can that was kicked down the road from the last major crisis a few months before and the worst, probably, that this country has ever faced except for the Civil War, and the two parties are about to destroy America, not just hurt it.  What I wrote then, is no less relevant now, other than I can add Social Security/Medicare benefits to tax increases as things that need to be part of the grand compromise.

“THIS article is not directed at the Mitch McConnells, John Boehner, and other Social Dominators and Right-Wing Authoritarian (RWA) followers in Congress. Instead, I am talking to the Olympia Snowes, Nancy Pelosis, Dick Lugars, Bernie Sanders, Scott Browns, and the Barney Franks’ of the House and Senate. SHAME ON YOU!!

How dare you abandon the reason and integrity we count on so much to guide this Nation and protect its citizens by holding ideology and party loyalty above the basic survival interests of the people who rely on your good judgement; judgement you seem to be clearly lacking now.

What am I talking about? I am talking about this stupid, irresponsible battle royal over tax-cuts for the rich, to keep the phrase short. You are risking the immediate health and welfare of millions of Americans during what you supposed Christians hold most dear, Christmas, the celebration of the birth of Jesus. What disrespecting, short-sighted, uncaring, self-centered, stutter-stutter-delete a few choicer words … POLITICIANS you are in thinking that delaying and hmming and hawwwing and seeing if you can’t squeak one more itty-bitty concession out of your opponent, one more poke in the eye is the right thing to do instead of passing the compromise President Obama cooked up with the RWA’s (who stepped out of character by the way). It buys you time for goodness sake, it isn’t the end of the world like it will be for, I repeat myself, millions of Americans if you screw it up.

Find something else to go to the mat on. Fight over equal rights for gays if you must, people won’t starve if you carry that on for awhile. Neither will they starve if you bicker over reducing the risk of a nuclear holocaust. But people will starve with you fighting a meaningless battle over a couple of billion dollars in tax cuts for the rich and famous. It doesn’t matter that the RWAs are lying out their teeth about the economics of the whole tax thing, that is what they do, It doesn’t matter that the Democrats haven’t a clue as how make a point with the American people, one that they can believe anyway. What does matter is that you ramp down the stress level you are putting 350 million Americans under with your petty ideological spats.

I didn’t castigate the RWAs and SDs because there is no point, they wouldn’t understand. They simply aren’t wired to understand. But, you are. Toss out your party loyalties in the face of a crisis. Start using your brain like you once did.

Stand up Moderates and Liberals, be Americans dedicated to serving the interests of Americans like you once did!”
