A Grand Bargain for Taxpayers

President Obama’s efforts to appease Republican Stalwarts.
OK, OK I know you all are tired of hearing about taxes, debt ceilings, Republicans, Democrats, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Right? Well, President Obama has formulated an appeasement plan for that grand ole party of Republicans. The plan is called, quite humorously, the “Grand Bargain”. Now, how can anyone say this president does not have a great sense of humor?
The Grand Bargain, is a plan in which the Democratic President will agree to reduce the National Debt by Four (4) Trillion Dollars in the next 10 years, while increasing revenues, some One (1) Trillion Dollars. Of course, all of us who are politically informed know Obama will leave office by 2016, Right. Of course, much of the revenue increase will come from overhauling tax codes, and eliminating loopholes, deductions and tax breaks for the very, very wealthy, and of course oil companies.
This author however, is in total disagreement with any plan by this or any president to reduce Social Security benefits as was intimated, by as much as $340 Billion by 2021 or conversely by $480 Billion by 2023. Rumblings of the president to decrease the amount of the annual cost of living increases for Social Security, is kind of assnine in my opinion, since there has been NO cost of living increase for seniors for the last 2 years. Additionally, a monthly stipend of some $1150.00, which is the approximate average amount of Social Security beneficiaries, is an embarassment for this vastly wealthy country.
I wonder how many of our $168,000.00 per year Congressional office holders could exist on $1100-1200 per month? That shows just how warped this country is becoming. Multi Billionaires and Millionaires in Pro Football are arguing how many Millions or Billions they will divide amongst them. Congress and the President are arguing over if the Republicans can take an extra $300 Million to $500 Million away from the elderly and disabled, so that the Millionaires and Billionaires who vote for them don’t have to pay any extra taxes.
WHAT is this Bullshit? I guess what should happen next is for the elderly and disabled to start beating up on the local paperboy and take his weekly wages. Or maybe, take the weekly allowances from their grandkids. Yeah, that sound about right, doesn’t it? Survival of the fittest.
Now Please remember, YOU are paying these incompetent jerks who walk around in $5000 suits, and ride around in limosines, eating lunches and dinners with rich lobbyist. I mean I have to scale down my full salad to a half salad on my daily trip to Wendys so I can eat everyday.
You know the funny thing is not only Independent voters who favor the President’s plan by 68%, but registered Republicans also favor President Obama’s plan by 55%. That may spell some doom and gloom in the next election for the Republican House, who seems to forget that a majority of those registered Republican’s are NOT Billionaires or Millionaires.
It might do those ill informed house members to scan over Sun Tsu’s “the Art of War”. This ancient book would teach them to negotiate from a strong position, and to refrain from attempting to defend a ridiculously foolish position, of refusing to INCREASE taxes for the very, very wealthy. If Warren Buffet can see the light, and be a good American, what’s wrong with all his peers?
