Rep. Anthony Weiner admitted yesterday to have "exchanged pictures of explicit nature via Twitter and Facebook, with about six women over the past three years".

In a press conference held yesterday afternoon, Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner admitted to sending pictures of explicit nature to numerous women during online conversations.  The conference was covered as “breaking news” by all the major national and New York media channels.  With tears in his eyes, Rep. Weiner send his apologies to all his followers and supporters, but especially to his wife and close relatives.  He admitted the claims of being “hacked” were lies that he fabricated in order to protect his public image and his marriage.

Political analysts, Party’s spokesmen and journalists from all over the country have been debating whether or not Anthony Weiner should resign after he already declared he wasn’t resigning.  This sort of decision should be up to him and the voters of the district that he represents in congress, not Fox News and Ruben Navarette Jr. of CNN.

It is absolutely true that when a person decides to involve himself in politics, he/she should consider the fact that they will never lead an average life again.  We expect leadership and guidance from our leaders.  We want them to set an example.  However, we are forgetting that they are nothing more than human beings.  It is the media’s fault for turning these elected officials lives into “celebrity status”.  Let’s just say that Rep. Weiner was the best representative that the people of his district ever had.  Let’s just say that he accomplished everything he promised in his campaign and represented the people of New York with the highest level of compassion, understanding and honesty.  Let’s just say that his political, economical and social decisions have made his district a better place to live.  Let’s just say that thanks to his unique skills, the people who appointed him to the position of congressman enjoy better lives.  Would it really matter what he did in his spare time?  For what we care, as long as our representative is making our lives better and fulfilling his promises, he can wear a thong and run around a naked beach with a wig on.

Dear media, please leave our politician’s personal lives out of the political spectrum.  His personal, intimate conversations with these women do not affect his ability to lead, or his judgement in any way, shape or form. Don’t you people have anything better to do?  Maybe stalk Britney Spears in her own back yard or tell us when Justin Bieber grew his first facial hair?  Stop treating our politicians like Hollywood celebrities.
