Thoughts on the debt ceiling increase.

The politics of today may be squandering whats left of any cooperation between political parties.  I think both parties seem to have forgotten we are all Americans, given a common central government, and principles expressed in both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

The debt ceiling debate is one that is needlessly endangering the systemic endeavor of this country.  There is no reason why except for political posturing that the Republicans are not willing to compromise on this issue.   They are out to challenge President Obama at every turn, which is understandable given they are the political opposition, but if you look back at the history of debt ceiling increases……then we have to ask ourselves, why take the stand on this particular President now?

If we were to only use the current Republican device right now in trying to solve this debt problem, we are asking the vast majority of this country to cut their local and state services, their federal government dollars for services such as the military, social security, and healthcare,  and give yet that over to the select few that now control the vast wealth of this country.  I ask; what do we expect of our country as a whole and not just for a few select parts?  What is inflation if it isn’t whats taking what used to be my entire paycheck and causing it to be spend solely on food?  I don’t care what the name of it is; inflation, stagflation……the fact of the matter is, we must have some kind of tax increase AND spending cuts to the largest programs of the federal budget.  Drugs for senior citizens paid for off the backs of the working class is wrong.  Subsidies for ethanol should be treated as they treat the subsidies for the gas companies that NO ONE talks about.  We need more environmental services and business start ups.  We need public transportation that will take us into the 21st century, such as high speed rail.  We need the individual to stand up to the corporation.
