The Dilemma of Sri Lankan Tamils: Curious Case of Tamil Politicians

The Dilemma

Who is the actual protector of the srilankan tamils?
Is it the LTTE, which claims it is fighting for the dignity and protection of the tamils.
Is it the Sinhala government run by the mahinda rajapakshe?

There is only one answer to this question.The democratically elected srilankan government is the one which is incharge and it is its duty to protect every citizen of its country irrespective of their religion or ethnicity.The LTTE has long lost its role as a protector of the tamils when it started assasinations of tamil activists and people objected to its ideology.It was a power hungry organization run by a ruthless dictator whose least concern was the safety of tamilians.The Irony is not lost on the people that the organization which was supposedly a protector of tamils is holding 1.5lakh people mostly of tamil origin as hostages to protect themselves against the srilankan offensive.This is the last gasp effort of a beleagured LTTE leadership to buy time.

But let us not forget the reasons for the 2 decade old conflict.The inefficiency of the state to protect its citizens drove them to take the extreme step.The anti tamil riots over the years have made tamils extremely vulnerable.But it is time now to right the historical wrongs and to ensure lasting peace.The restoration of tamil as an official language in srilanka and devolutions of powers within the constitutional framework are some steps in that direction.
There is also a need for a responsible tamil leadership in srilanka which would help the community and the country.

The message from the srilankan leadership has been positive:
Mahinda rajapakshe said “This is not a victory over tamils but a victory over a ruthless terrorist organization”.

The Curious Case of Politicians of Tamilnadu

A 2 day ceasefire had been announced by the army, to facilitate the release of civilians before the hostilities resume.But the LTTE continues with its irresponsible ways and the propaganda machine is working overtime.Every day there are announcements of army excesses against tamilians in pro ltte websites.These has been lapped up by the spineless politicians of tamil nadu-the cultural homeland of tamils around the world.They are trying to whip up emotions in tamilnadu and the recent self immolation by muthukumaran has become the rallying to cry to galvanise support of the masses.But people of tamilnadu though sympathetic to the sufferings of srilankan tamils have lost all sympathy  for the LTTE,the instant they committed the most ghastly crime on Indian soil.

I do not know whether they support the tamil cause or the LTTEs cause.Supporting one does not mean supporting the other.Except for one dravidian party-AIADMK headed by j.jayalalitha-every other party has been sympathizing with ltte cause.She is the only politician who has openly opposed the LTTE and has during her rule in tamil nadu has cracked on extremist groups.

PMK:The moral police of the tamil nadu-calls the invitation from mahinda rajapakshe to visit srilanks and ask the ltte to release the tamils an insult.

MDMK: VAiko has no other thing in this world to talk about except praising maaveeran prabhakar.”Maaveeran” means great warrior in tamil.I have never heard of a single maaveran who send little children on suicide missions.I have heard of veerapandiya kattabomman leading people and dying for a cause and not hiding behind people for their own protection.

DMK: Biggest comedy of them all.kalaignar karunanidhi-THinks he is the king and all tamils are his subjects and acts as if he is the spokesperson for every tamil born on this earth.There has been reports of DMK swindling money from the relief that was sent to the srilankan tamils by the good spirited tamilians of India.His name was also mentioned in the Jain commision for the alleged nexus with ltte for the assasination of rajiv gandhi.
