GW: No More Powdered Wig

The former president had left in a bit of a huff but has now returned, appearing calm and collected.

“Please accept my apologies, but the slavery issue is, as you would imagine, touchy for me.”

“Of course sir, but as you said, it’s over now.”

“Yes, I need to amend that statement. Slavery in 2008 in the United States is alive and well.”

“I beg your pardon sir?”

“It’s called the US Tax Code. The means by which the fruit of other’s labor is taken without their consent. Can anyone say tea party?”

“Again sir, times are so different, for you to apply standards of…”

“Standards of reason? Waste not want not as Ben would say, oh how quaint the pundits of 08 would say. Yet it seem many Americans are wanting at the moment.”

“They wanted new leadership and they have gotten it with Barack Obama, sir.”

“And exactly what impartial media body do you represent? Nevermind, the printed and spoken word can rarely be trusted, real truth, such as Tom Paine’s Common Sense, often gets lost in the mix after its initial impact, real truth is found only in the Soul.”

“It sounds like you’re quite distressed at the state of the nation 200 some years after your own inauguration. You know most conservative right wingers cite you as such, turning in your grave at the state of affairs.”

“What good would it do to turn in my grave? I’d much rather blog such as we’re doing here, hoping it can make an impression on good men and women to step forward and do the right thing.”

“What would you suggest sir?”

“This CIA thing really bothers me. I had an intelligence service of course bit it was to win the war. Afterwards we didn’t partner with pirates and killers to overthrow governments.”

“Just to play devil’s advocate sir, what about communism? And the post World War Two nuclear threat?”

“So I’m out of touch right, just some 18th century slaveholding bean planting militarist? Can’t understand 20th and 21st century complexities like nuclear weapons?”

“In your time no weapon had the capacity to destroy…”

“Ever hear of the Black Death? Atlantis? The threat of Soviet militarism was no excuse to create an agency that partnered with killers and criminals and so became those things themselves. Look I don’t have time to give you a history lesson; I warned against foreign entanglements, General Eisenhower warned against the military industrial complex. Accountability has been forsaken. Americans today are as removed, if not more, from their government as they were from the King’s chambers in my time. And so we had things like the Warren Report, Gulf of Tonkin, Watergate, Nixon’s pardon, the Iranian hostage crisis, brave Marines lost in Lebanon, read my lips no new taxes, sex in the Oval office! Iraq! So now we have Obama. You know what would have been nice today if he said at his inauguration that he would commit himself to getting the million plus classified CIA documents on JFK released, and that once and for all the truth about the murder and subsequent coverup of the country’s leader would be made known.  Because that’s where America drove into the ditch and never got the wheels back on the road. Not because JFK was faultless and so great, but because a lie so great cannot be allowed to live and yet not poison the soul of the nation.

What is the real reason for this exultation of Obama? People don’t even know that on the Soul level they feel the guilt over the poison of slavery has been medicated, but the guilt was unnecessary in the first place, no one in 2008 ever held slaves. So some of their ancestors might have, but if we go back through time with a belief in reincarnation, everyone had a life as a slave and everyone had a life as a slavemaster. In anyone’s present life the only true slavery is that of the mind. No president, no country, no religious leader can free another individual’s mind. Freedom, sir, it’s not just a word, it’s the progeny borne of unrelenting truth and courage. And it can flower in the darkest and coldest of winters if divine will is the midwife.”
