Recently, five Malaysian policemen had a black magic curse sent to them. The curse is known as the "santau katak puru" which literally means "frog knot voodoo" and involves a frog which was placed in the homes of the policemen. If the frog died, the policemen would also die.
Thanks to bungling American bureaucrats, a bevy of incompetents in the State Department and a basic weakness in American world-view, Wikileaks has become virtually unassailable. The US government and exponents of American politics have pushed and shoved the platform into a win-win situation it couldn’t get out of if it tried.
It didn’t take long for the newly elected politicians to break their campaign promises. Nothing new.
In the effort to try to save these two words that I hold very dear to my heart, “hope”–my church upbringing rings in my ears that “faith is the substance of things HOPED for”–and “change”–the idea that we are not stuck! Growth and rejuvenation and renewal is possible! In the effort to save these words from a tomb of cliché, let’s create new meaning for them now.
