The Labour Party had previously believed in, as well as promoted more traditionally socialist political philosophy and values. The Labour party for the various reasons described and evaluated below, decided to radically overhaul its political policies, its own image, and arguably its political philosophy in order to regain power after losing four consecutive general elections. The results of Labour’s efforts to regain power were its own re-branding as New Labour, and its new political philosophy, the so-called Third Way. The launch of New Labour and the promotion of its Third Way have led to discussions as to whether the Labour party has been pragmatic, or actually developed a respectable political philosophy.
