The central square of Brussels Grand Place again zapestrila bright colors flower carpet. Over the last four decades, every two years, the capital of Belgium decorated carpet of flowers. This year, the area planted with hundreds of hand-florists, was more than 2,000 square meters.
The length of the huge “flower bed” is 77 meters, width – 24 m To create a rich pattern in the style of traditional ornaments of tribes from Ethiopia, Congo, Nigeria, Botswana and Cameroon, it took about 800 thousand begonias and tens of thousands of dahlias.
300 flowers adorned every square meter of carpet. To create the miracle lasted four hours time. Begonias, as the main material, were not chosen by chance – they are resistant to all the vagaries of weather.
At the end of the work the Town Hall on the Grand Place, was ready for the ceremonial reception of officials and journalists, and the square to the sound of music thundered salutes.
