Rwandan genocide – Hotel Rwanda.

Images serve a variety of purposes. They possess the ability to project lies, reveal the truth, and essentially describe emotions. Visual representatives can be pleasant, but in this sequence, by no means is it pleasant. While in Kigali, I witnessed the death‘s of thousands. It was horrific, and had many bestowing images.  The image that I believe to hold the most power would have to be when Paul got out his car and fell onto the corpses, initially not knowing he had been driving over them. This image is powerful because when seen, it had the ability to not only awaken mixed feeling in anyone, but it represents the genocide that went on. This image raises awareness around the world, and is an exemplar of how people died on the streets they grew up in just because of an interpretation. Another reason why I believe this is a powerful image is because it can be used to persuade people into donating there money into a good cause. The final reason I believe that this image is powerful is because I believe year’s after this genocide occurred, one can look back at this picture and everything can be remembered. It simply cannot be forgotten and reminds the world of what went on. When this image is viewed by others, there is no certain emotion that can be brought forth. Depending on the person, it can bring unpleasantness, anger, and possibly happiness. Nonetheless, no matter what emotion is brewed up, this image will remind of us that this act will not be forgotten and goes down as the biggest genocide in history.
