From CNN.com
October, 2010
U.N. (United Nations) officials announced that thirty Congolese women were held at the Congo-Angola border for two weeks earlier this month and raped by officials dressed in uniform.
The women were kept in underground prisons and raped repetitively over two weeks time. The women were some of 150 people forced to leave Angola. The women told the U.N. of the ordeal. They said three people. two men and one woman in the initial group were killed. The woman died after being raped repetitively. The survivors were released and returned to the Congo naked with nothing to their name.
In another incident, 20 Congolese women were reportedly raped.
Sadly, this is nothing uncommon. Women all over the world are raped every single day. Across the world, women are raped, mutilated, burned, savagely beaten or murdered. Violence against women is increasing.
U.N. officials were said to be meeting next week to discuss whether they should send a team to investigate. What is to decide? A team has to be sent! This past summer nearly 500 people were raped in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I think there is a problem here that needs to be looked into.

Hi Nina, I think it is really good that you are making people more aware of the violence many people are suffering in the world but could I add something? Why just say no to violence against women? What about men? I don’t mean to turn this into some sexist post but violence against any person should be strongly condemed.
Hi Amreen, I agree with you all violence should be stopped. I would love to see the end to violence against, women, men & children one day. This is just a platform that I feel very strongly about. I will likely draw attention to other forms of ivolence as well.
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate you ‘voicing’ your opinion.
This is the article I am most proud of and also my #1 most viewed article.
