Those pesky pirates have struck once more. In fact the past week they have struck six times. This last time to over take an American Cargo ship the Maersk Alabama. The vessel was headed to Kenya filled with aide when it was over taken by pirates. Once they boarded the ship the twenty man crew some how over took the pirates and they were off running for their dingy. Captain Richard Phillips surrendered to be taken hostage to keep the rest of his crew safe. This was the first type of situation American Sailors have been in, in about 200 years.

The pirates are now sitting in their dingy not far from the Maersk Alabama and are dead in the water from running out of fuel.

The USS Bainbridge has arrived and is sitting close to the Maersk Alabama. There is also aircraft flying overhead to keep an eye on the situation. It has been stated that there are now over twelve different nations patrolling the area of Cape Horn in Africa because of the pirate attacks that have been taking place.

The FBI hostage negotiators are also involved with the military maneuvers in this area. It is felt by all that the main purpose for all of this is for the safe release of Captain Phillips. As his family sit by at their home in Vermont anxiously awaiting news of their loved one.

Military spokesman have stated they think what will happen is the pirates will try to communicate with their mother ship to tow them back to shore, but with the US Navy on their flank they do not believe there is much chance of this happening, but at the moment there seems to be a standoff situation at hand.

With the world watching the outcome of this latest pirate attack our first thoughts are for the safety of the Captain and then I do hope the US Navy blows there pesky pirates right out of the water and ends this craziness. A message  needs  to be given to them and I see no other way to get our message across that we will not tolerate this anymore.

Will this happen? Who knows, but one thing is for sure these darn pirates have truly made a name for themselves and continue to take over slow moving ships.
