It is alarming that the new Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, has vowed not to let human rights hinder co-operation with China.

What was she thinking? China has an alarming record on human rights regarding dissidents, or those who want to be allowed to freely practise religion, as well as the coercive one child policy. As well as these issues the latest of the human rights abuses included the attempts to crush the Tibetans who desire their own autonomy.

Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, and representing the Obama administration (an administration that is very fast earning a bad reputation as it makes a mockery of democracy in more ways than one) has stated the following:

“But our pressing on those issues can’t interfere on the global economic crisis, the global climate change crisis and the security crisis,”

to reporters in Seoul, just before she left to head for Beijing.

The reaction from the human rights organization, Amnesty international is less than positive. In fact the spokesman for Annesty International has expressed disappointment in Mrs Clinton’s remarks (and so it should express disappointment). The United States of America in the past has been the voice for human rights, and it had the power to speak up and press other nations, especially China on the issue of human rights issues. However, Mrs. Clinton’s remarks have now damaged the standing of the USA on such matters.

Hillary Clinton is sending the wrong signals to China. These remarks have the impact of telling the Chinese that they can go ahead and crush any rebellion in Tibet, plus she is now allowing China to set the agenda.

On top of this, it could be said that Hillary Clinton has slapped Amnesty International in the face by ensuring that the brief that they gave her before she embarked upon this trip is going to be ignored.

Yes, Hillary we do have a global economic crisis, but it is not as serious as claimed by your leader, Barak Obama, or by the Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd. This “crisis” is a recession that is no more serious than the situation that we have experienced since the stagflation of the 1970s. If it gets worse, then that will be the fault of the Obama Administration and the passing of the Porkulus Bill – a situation that will continue to plunge the US economy into deeper and deeper debt.

No, Hillary, we are not experiencing a global climate change crisis. The whole crisis is nothing more than alarmist nonsense. There is no real scientific datat that supports the climate change agenda. Yes, even in Australia, where we have just experienced the worst ever death toll from a bush fire, can it be said that this is the result of climate change. These changes in climate are cyclical and the southern region of Australia – Victoria – has experienced this kind of heat wave in the past. On top of that Victoria and South Australia, as well as New South Wales have experienced bushfires that have been very intense in the past. What made this particular situation worse happened to be the policies of Green Councils !!! Yes, they would not let people clear trees from near their houses. They did not understand the dangers of having the ecucylpt trees so close to property. They neglected responsible forest management by not allowing backburning.
