Or does it?

China has begun testing with small-scale plans to reduce acid rain and pollution throughout the country, part of a five year plan of economic development that should be fully implemented by 2015. This plan would implement regulations and codes that would limit the amount of pollutants allowed to be produced, depending on the permit the factory/company has been issued from the government. However, China is now the world’s largest polluter, and produces an exorbitant amount of carbon dioxide. This plan may not cover carbon emissions, as China refused to comment on carbon related issues.

However, it is not known if this plan will cover carbon dioxide, which may pose a problem. China has one of the largest carbon output in the world, and if this plan doesn’t cover carbon emissions, it would contradict with President Hu Jintao’s pledge to the UN that obliges them to cut down on carbon emissions for every dollar it outputs economically.

Only time will tell if this plan will actually work.
