The Communist Party of China is allowing Democracy in the party ranks but true democracy is nowhere near.

In a bizarre twist of history, in the wake of the celebrations of the 60 years of the communist rule in China, the Communist Party of China is talking democracy. The Communist Party in their fight against corruption has decided to ”expand intra-Party democracy to develop people’s democracy.”

What the Communist Party is trying to achieve though this initiative is to allow the grass root level party workers to voice their views so that their discontent can be better managed. The decision making and what weight-age is to be given to such views is however, the decision of the Central leadership.

The central objective of this initiative is to make sure that the Communist Party’s control over its vast network of cadre’s does not falter in these changing times of market driven economy.

Even after this initiative, democracy seems to be a far cry in this communist nation.
