Fearsome flash floods hit Cagayan de oro and Iligan City last December 15-16,2011 and these photos show how the city was pulverized by the floods.
December 15-16,2011, Typhoon Sendong hit Northern Mindanao and devastated lives, mostly from Cagayan de Oro and in nearby Iligan City. This typhoon gave Mindanao its first major typhoon in decades. The residents were not used to such phenomenon as tropical storms usually hit parts of Luzon and the Visayas. Typhoon Sendong, Washi as its international name, killed thousands of people and hundreds are still missing. Most of the dead were children and women, according to Gwendolyn Pang, Secretary General of the Philippine Red Cross.

It’s heartbreaking to know how the flash floods pulverized the city of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City. Latest news said the cities are running out of coffins due to many dead bodies. More dead bodies are still unidentified and are being placed in an open dump site in Cagayan de Oro.

These photos show how flash floods swept resident’s vehicles and their homes.

These pictures remind me of what we experienced last 3 years ago when Typhoon Ondoy hit Manila. I know how it feels to be a victim of fearsome floods. I am saddened by the effects of flash floods that hit Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City. Let us help the victims. Let us pray for them. We can also send donations, a small amount is a big help to them. Check out this site of my friend for information on how to send donations, be it money or in kind : Miss Macherie

very tragic. This is much worse than Ondoy. It is unusual to have typhoons in Mindanao.
Our “kababayans” really need our help. Let us pray for them.
Hope the government will do something about it.
Very sad for them.
Got an article on that on wikinut: http://writing.wikinut.com/Water-World-A-Paradise-Lost!/etqwmiv4/
Let’s pray for them.

\”GIPAHINUMDUM NA ANG MGA BUHI SA GINOO….. TEN COMMAND MENTS READ AND FOLLOW
GOD CLEANSE ILIGAN AND CAGAYAN FROM INEQUITY FOR IDOLATRY AND SINS\” – very ignorant, insensitive, judgemental and self righteous comment.

oh!! that is terrible.. sad!!
Let us continue praying for the victims and for the healing of the survivors.
I touch this photos of our countrymen who suffered for the mess of others. One of the problem I see it, is… This is one country, we are all filipino but some parts of our teritory does not cover by goverent laws. how it sad to to this happen, but if this country and its teritory should under the law of the philippine goverment, this mess is not to be done.
I know, there are autonomous region in this country, but we must implement the we have only one AFP who protecting this country and its teritory.
Stop….existing of unauthorized arm citizen at philippine teritory.
This tragedy in mindanao is a mess, A mistake, irresponsible of thus in the position related to the caused of tragedy.pray for our countrymen souls.
I call the attention of our beloved officers and soldiers, to protect this country in any cost. accepting mission is honor, materialized the mission is honor. we cannot live this country only for honor.
we need HONOR, LOVE,GOD.
merry x-mass all AFP! huraaaaaaaa……….

Thanks for the very informative article
thanks for the advice.
thanks for lady gagas vagina terrible
I was saddened deeply when i saw the pictures of corpses and areas devastated. Let’s help and box things that we can send to them and drop them to your nearest LBC and other local carriers that will deliver them for FREE and for the government for sure this will happen again in other provinces, it is about time now to review our laws and strictly implement the law against the illigal loggers and legal loggers that did not even think to replace the trees that they took. And for the local government officials have shame on your ass… HELP THOSE PEOPLE AND BE STRICT WITH IMPLEMENTATION OF LAWS AND CONDUCT REHABILITATION OF FORESTS IN YOUR AREAS.
I CRIED WHEN I SAW THIS IMAGE ( ABOUVE) ……………GOD I KNW YOU’RE THERE AND YOUR MAD AT US.. BUT WE ARE JUST PEOPLE WHO COMMIT SIN TO MAKE A LIVING PLEASE FORGIVE US AND LEAD US TO A RIGHT ROAD… HELP US AND BE WITH US ALWAYS SAVE US…….. IN THE NAME JESUS OUR SAVIOR

Just have faith in god and continue praying for the survival of the affected areas.
it is really sad. you can tell through the faces of the kagay-anons that the inevitable caused a great fear. lives were lost and all of us weeps for the dead and missing. the memory is still fresh and uptil now i can still hear the screams of the helpless people during the time when the waters reached our home. it was a day full of fear and will always be remembered.
I thank you. It is nice to see it.
