OK i am an Indian i don't know whether India will become a superpower or not,but if India is on the development path like this i can assure you its never going to happen

take for example

1.one road in your city you use most often.how many things have been changed in that road from the time you have seen it, did the roads improved(basic infrastructure),is it possible till now to go to an place without spending more than 5 minutes standing in traffic in signals, can you find buses where you can travel comfortably,in the rainy season do you find easy moving from one place to another.see other countries how they made their roads how easy it is to move around places is it happening in India

2.How far we are successful in education.its no use in providing education to 100 students without getting any thing in to their mind.if we make at least 10 people to think on their own then you really say him as educated,But are we doing so
does our education make people to think?

3.quota, i really wonder can any one in future can solve this issue .Because of this the talents are never recognized

4.the one who wrote this article have written about IITs and IIMs
though they are premier institutions their intake is very low and more over how many those who have passed out of IIT and IIM work in India, do we have all IIT passed outs working for India

5. IT sector have been a huge income to the government.but its about to reach its saturation.so have the government thought of the future field where the growth can be made(i.e nanotechnology),from which the income can be yielded.?

6.In India rich getting richer poor getting poorer. The one whom i saw pulling rickshaw is doing the same job .son of my house maid who is 20 years goes for daily wage have the government made any progress for making the people to realize the importance of education.Leave it in shops where you buy groceries haven't you seen children working for daily wages what sort of step the government is taken ,these scenes never changed for past 40 years but we will become super power?

7.Black money how much money have the government recovered from the Swiss bank may be in millions or in billions?
having nuclear weapons and missile will never make a country a super power.

A COUNTRY CAN BECOME SUPERPOWER ONLY WHEN ITS PEOPLE GET ABILITY TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD,BETTER AND BEST.FOR THAT THE EDUCATION IS THE ONLY SHORTCUT APART FROM THE RESOURCE IT HOLDS WHAT EVER IT MAY BE

India might have had its glorious past but we have to look for future and act today to make tomorrow a better one

if you really want to do some thing to your country its just too simple

do your duty and educate others

Jai hind

To Silly:
You are absolutely right. The main problem India faces that it runs solely on its people and not on its policies (almost every machinary of politics, governance and social welfare is in-eficient and outdated). With a growing population and lack of efficient policies and instruments to utilize the human resource properly, India will just become an overflowing slum. The resources are less and demands set to increase, faster than the rate the resources (be it education, jobs, industry, infrastructure anything). Result will be higher cost and increased disparity. It is true China's growth rate may be slower than India in future but still it will beat in its absolute GDP figures. Much like the US. Another very very important thing is the strong political will of the Chinese Govt. to make their country no. 1. Thus they bring out growth friendly policies, contain the dissent among people and focus on all round development. I have been to China myself and widely travelled even to its interiors. I felt the infrastructure and living conditions in small Chinese cities (which don't even figure out in a world map) is better than many so called metros India has. The key difference is in China they bring the facilities to the people and in India we feel the people should move to the facilities. So India's urban population keeps rising and our interior areas lack any significant progress in decades.
In the end I would like to severly disagree with the author. I feel it is just an attempt to bank on the emotions of the Indians who very conveniently still regard China as the land of short yellow opium smoking people living in rural conditions.

No Way , I think we should n't go by MBA Marketers analytics. Bottom line county with products rule the world since they control the market and inflow and outflow. Take any sector and tell me what products we indian make Tata's or cheap cars ? have you guys seen the quality indica gear box will blew after 3 years . Korea who is 1/10 th size produces hyundai, samsung etc. US who has products like google. orcle, microsoft. Japan which has toyota sony etc. what we have, we are skilled labor but needs to learn and how to become masters. It is not IITS (a few grads who struggle hard to get into it but don't know what to do afterwards most of the people work in any mnc and be a slave afterwards.) Look why israel is great country because thy have very successful startups.

I think is very long run to be a superpower but I think it is very challenging to sustain the global war. Every one is smart and other countries have very good echo system than india and china.
Some one very respected gentle man told me making a dress is not that important but designing the dress and I think We as a nation needs to think and every one has to contribute to this cause.

What impresses me the most is that India as young as India is...I am of course referring to it's independence; in a little over 60 years, it has set itself up to be a super power in the very near future.

To Nabeel,

How can you claim that educated Indian is more skilled and intelligent? If you talk about English skill, probably yes. But about skill. Is this right that India export mostly raw material to China and import manufactured goods? Is this right that farming productivity of India only a half or a third of China? Where are your skill?

About intelligence: is this right that IQ of average Chinese is 105, the highest in the world, whereas of average Indian is 82, among the lowest.

To Nabeel

You know, I really hate people who boasts without even bother checking their facts and data. Just do a google search for verification for god sake.

1. Dude, should look at the date of nation finding vs that of china. India was founded in 1947, China in 1949. India's growth rate have been consistently behind that of China for most of the time. currently, China is averaging 10% growht rate while India is at 8%.

2. I wonder what allows you to make sucha claim that India's elite is better than China's? Cause if that is the case, why is DRDO which represent cream of the crop for Indian research sucks so much compare to its Chinese counter part?

3. right, claim you have conquered corruption and inequality after you have done it first please. As far as I can tell, the country is still plagued with those problems.
