Why didn’t India listen to The United States about plans for Mumbai being attacked?
As I follow the news since last week and the attack on Mumbai, I find myself asking questions like why didn’t India listen to us? I just read an article posted in the Telegraph in the UK and it states that the United States had warned India last month about Mumbai being attacked from the sea by terrorists. They didn’t listen to us at all. I also read that the terrorists looked like South Indians.
My first reaction is that No way could the terrorists be South Indian. I know that North and South Indians look very different and you usually can tell which sector they originate from. They also seem to have their own war going on something like the war here in the United States years ago between the north and the south. I work with many Indians and have asked why they do not like the other one and they honestly cannot give me a good reason. They say things like oh the food is different, or the way they look. Who knows maybe it has been instilled in them since birth from wars past. Honestly I do not know, but my opinion is that a South Indian could not do this kind of damage to North India or any place else for that matter.
They did manage to keep one of the attackers alive and he stated they were trained in camps in Pakistan. Now this to me makes much more sense from the war that still goes on today with Pakistan and India. I do not understand why the Indian Government did not listen to the US warnings when we give them a heads up. I really don’t know if they will ever figure out where these ten terrorists came from and who was behind the attack, but what I do know is if they do not start taking our warnings seriously then there will have more attacks and killings without a doubt.
I realize that the Indian Government is all messed up and maybe just maybe there are too many fingers in the pot, but they need to do something before the Country is completely blown up and shot up by a few people trained to kill as many as possible as quickly as possible.
Look at the damage ten, just ten men did on such a big city. What comes into my mind when I think of only ten men doing this kind of damage is what would happen if they had only one hundred trained killers all over India and attacked. There would be an ethnic cleansing of anyone who got in their way. It would be total devastation. Are all Indians willing to sacrifice the total demolition of the Country they were born and raised in?
How can they make light of all of this? Bombs and terrorists killing Indians have been going on for a long time, dont you agree with me that now it is time to do something about it all and listen to those who are truely trying to help them. I realize India is very old in its culture and its ways they see life in general, but I do think it is time for them to find good Government officials to help them rise to the top and over come this terror.
My thoughts and prayers truly go out to all of those who were injured or lost their lives in this tragedy. I truly wish this Country of India piece!

Mumbai attack is another manifestation of a terrorism. I quoted your last paragraph message:
My thoughts and prayers truly go out to all of those who were injured or lost their lives in this tragedy.
Take care!
What a sentiment, did they overlooked the warn or they ignored it? The last word I think you mean ‘peace’? Great post!
Great article.
Terrific piece, well written.
I totally agree with you — it’s scary that they didn’t listen to warnings predicting exactly what did happen. I wonder how many such “terrorist” warnings they get though. It is truly amazing how such a small number of evil men can cause such incredible damage and heart ache. Great article.
A real tragedy and considerable loss of lives. Thank you for the post.
Yes, this was a tragedy that could have been avoided. We have been warning them. So very sad. Great article, though.
I feel like I’m living under a rock, Lindalulu. Why didn’t I hear about this from my local news team?
I agree with you. To me the response of the Indian government (the locals squabbling with the central government; the assigning of blame; the no resources available) is reminiscent of our response to Katrina.

Inna
What little I know about the differences in India’s people, is they put themselves on different levels. Some of them think they are above the others, so sad…
I’m off to study for finals. Just letting you know I am reading and running.
Nice write, Linda, well presented and concise.

Excellent piece!
We’ll probably never really know why they didn’t listen. Like you wrote, maybe there’s too many fingers in the pot; Maybe too many politicians with overinflated egos who didn’t want to listen to ‘outsiders’; or maybe money to be made through political graft and corruption; personal beliefs; etc.
The People of India deserved better than this!!
So where will all this take us?
There is obviously an element throughout the world that wants to create a new world order. They have courage and determination no matter if you agree with their philosophy or not. So far they have been able to act as wolves among sheep, the killing frenzy goes on without consequence.
This element is either supported or tolerated by governments. Who will have the courage and determination to bring consequence to the frenzy?
Contrary to western opinion and misguided principle, there are no rules of war. If the conflict is not fought to the point of exhaustion (total destruction of any capacity to resist)it will not end. Compare the end result of world war II with all the “limited wars” fought since. Germany and Japan were fought to the point of exhaustion – Game over. This war, and I assure you it is a war, has no conclusion unless it is fought with courage and determination. The consequence of support or tolerance must be shown to very grave.

You’re right, it is very sad!
Well written piece, personally the I find the caption to be one of great interest as I can coincide with anyone that doesn’t follow Americas governmental policies. Typically it is hard for foreign countries to listen to their rantings of possible terrorist attacks, no matter how logical they may be.
I agree with you 100% Linda. There are a lot of big problems with the U.S. involvement with the war in the Middle East and there are a lot of different opinions with who is at fault.
