  1. Take a day off.

    Arriving in Sydney is at the end of a long journey. Take a day off and rest, sleep and recoup from the flight. Now is a great time to plan the journey ahead from the comfort of the bed.

  2. Take a stroll.

    On the second day, the best tip is strolling to the Opera House, the botanical gardens and their famous, ‘bat trees,’ or, stroll anywhere locally. It’s a very picturesque place.

  3. Meet the locals.

    “Sydneysiders”, never tire of new faces and will lend a hand. Familiarising yourself with the people will smooth your transition to fun, as people in Sydney are friendly and ready to chat.

  4. Eat.

    Everything that you can. The food is quality, reasonably priced and quite tasty. Every nation has eateries in this city and the restaurants are easily accessible in the City and beyond. Ask a local their favorite place they dine and you will be thrilled with the cost and the taste.

  5. See the beaches, sail the harbour.

    Manly and Bondi beaches and the Harbour seem to call you when you arrive in Sydney. The best time is October when the weather clears and it’s warm and mild. An instant pleaser is the, ‘restaurant boat,’ departing Circular Quay ferry terminal near the Opera house. It is very pleasant having lunch and wine whilst meandering along on a big, deep blue natural harbour.

  6. Climb the Harbour Bridge.

    There is a bridge climb agency that helps you climb the famous, ‘coat hanger,’ bridge for views that are out of this world. Even Fergie, the Duchess of York did it.

  7. Go clubbing in Kings Cross.

    If you are not exhausted by the rounds of lunching, strolling, swimming and sailing Sydney affords, then throw on some bling and head for the red-light district. Kings Cross has just been refurbished looking a million bucks right now, with more fabulous clubs opening nightly. Darlinghurst Rd. is a good place to boogie.

  8. Attend a massive party.

    Sydney’s party season is about to explode. This article was penned in September 2008. Sydney launches it’s famous, massive celebrations from the end of this month right through to March of 2009. Imported DJ’s pump music to huge pavilions of revelers – a tryst for you that is a must.

  9. Shop.

    The city is known for its funky, fun and casual apparel. The city offers both small designers, on Crown St and in Newtown, and big shopping pavilions in the Queen Victoria Building in the City and Westfield’s in Bondi Junction. The look now is definitely light and casual as summer comes.

  10. Recover from all the fun and rest.

    Go to the beach ( again ) or loll in the hotel pool with a sumptuous cocktail.
