China is upset with the Australian Prime Minister, John Howard because he has decided to meet with the exiled Tibetan leader, the Dalai Lama while he is in Australia. John Howard has the support of his nation and will not be held to ransom in his own country by the Chinese government.

China invaded Tibet and has tried to claim and take this country as their own and for the past fifty years there has been unrest, disharmony and anguish among an otherwise peace loving nation. During this time the Dalai Lama has lived in exile in India while the Chinese have moved into his small country and tried to wipe out the history of his people. These people are primarily of the Buddhist faith and the Dalai Lama is the head of the religion, like the Pope is to the Catholic faith.

They practice what they preach and as a result are losing the battle against China. There have been some brutal and inhumane events that have been reported in the news recently and the world has yet to make a stand to help this nation. To act as a broker between the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government would be better than the zero support they seem to be getting now.

“Many Australians would like to see John Howard take it a step further and become an honest broker between Beijing and the exiled Tibetans, to get the Tibetan wish for autonomy on the road and to resolve this issue which is now more than half a century old,” Senator Brown told reporters.

The last visit to New Zealand was in 2000 and I went to listen to his words of wisdom in Eden Park. It was a worthwhile event to attend and I was very impressed and pleased that I went. I have a soft spot for this Dalai Lama as we share a birthday and I hope that peace can be brought to this Earth too. I am unsure if I will be attending these meetings but the schedule is available through the links below.
