Two pairs of German police officers arrested each other, letting the real bandit escape in a German off-license bar. Read on for details.

Two sets of police successfully arrested each other after criminals held up an off-license booze shop in the Charlottenburg-Wimursdorf region of Germany.

The two bandits entered the store, and then drew a machete on the female staff member minding the counter. The worker handed over roughly AU$7,500 in cash, before activating the silent alarm, which was linked to the nearest police station.

Several minutes later, a pair of plain clothed police entered the store, closely followed by another pair of uniformed police. The uniformed police then arrested the plain clothed police, even when they protested. The uniformed cops just told them the usual, anything they said would be used against them in court.

After several tense minutes, one of the uniformed police officers finally recognised the plain clothed policemen, and released them in front of the bemused store owner. Meanwhile, the real crooks were long gone.

“We all thought the uniformed police had caught the crooks and when the plain-clothes cops tried to tell them who they were, the uniformed police told them to keep quiet.

It was only when one of the uniformed officers recognised one of the plain-clothes cops that they realised what had happened.” the owner of the off-license Heinz Huber said.
