The bodies of three dead babies found in a house in Merseyside.

Three bodies have been discovered in a house in Harlow close, St Helens Merseyside. The remains are believed to be that of babies, which currently remain unidentified.

The bodies are undergoing analysis and investigation to establish the sexes and confirm that they are indeed human remains.

The bodies were discovered by the police following a tip off from a local. Two women aged 38 and 54 have been arrested in addition to a young man aged 26. They are being investigated in conjunction with the discovery and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Leader of the investigation, Detective superintendant Steve Naylor has confirmed that at this point in the investigation the bodies are assumed to be of three babies. He stated that it is a complex investigation and many avenues were being investigated to ascertain the cause of the discovery.

He also said that they could not speculate as to the cause or the circumstances of the deaths and any inappropriate supposition is likely to have a severe impact on the investigation and the family concerned.

He expressed his honest opinion that there is a significant amount of work to be completed before any judgement can be made.
