A US flight attendant furiously jumped out a plane after telling passengers off on the loudspeaker for not following his instructions.

The flight attendant, Steven Slater, 39, was attending on a Jet Blue flight from Pittsburgh to New York, when he instructed passengers to remain seated during the landing phase of the flight.  After giving these instructions, one passenger decided to ignore them and began retrieving baggage from an overhead compartment. Procedurally, Steven Slater, acted on stopping this passenger from removing baggage from the compartment,  of which it was then when a bag fell out and struck Slater on the head.  Reports say that Slater demanded an apology from the passenger for the accident, the passenger then refused to apologies but rather began to curse him instead.

Reports say it was after being cursed (instead of receiving an apology,) that Slater began his rage by first cursing all passengers over the loudspeaker, then grabbing a beer from the galley before making his exit by activating an inflatable evacuation slide and launching himself off the plane.   Slater was able to navigate to the employee car parking lot where he parked his car, of which he then drove to his home in queens, NY.   He was arrested shortly afterwards in his home for charges of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, according to ABC.

This incident is currently pending further investigation.  Jet Blue airline has released a statement saying: ” There were no injuries and all customers deplaned the aircraft safely through the jetway, At this time, we are working with the FAA and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to investigate the incident.  At no time was the security or safety of our customers or crew members at risk”.
