Why is America so busy dealing with everyone else’s problems?
I mean seriously. Why is America so focused on helping these poor Haitians when we have so many problems here? First we have this significant downturn in our economy, followed by massive layoffs, increased crime rates, H1N1, and multiple wars, and now this big Earthquake in Haiti. How much money are the American people expected to fork over to a territory that has little to no significance on the world. Iraq, Afghanistan, and all of our past wars are putting this country into a financial hole that the American people are only digging deeper. Perpetuating our financial crisis by handing out monopoly money to other weaker countries is equally as terrible as handing it out to companies like AIG and other big banks.
Here is a solution, Japan was able to advance itself by investing their money into things that work. Their military budget is significantly less than America’s. Stop giving away money to other countries, stop fighting wars that have no ends, and stop fixing the problems with inflation. Believe me, it is more than just Haiti’s little earthquake problem. How many times does the world come together to help America when it is facing a national emergency. Last time I remember anyone giving a care was in 2001. Furthermore, the section 8 list hasn’t been available in Alameda county in California since 2001. Maybe if the government focused more financial efforts on social welfare programs instead of problems abroad, there wouldn’t be as many homeless or jobless in the states. America wasn’t half bad as an isolationist nation… It is a sad thing that happened in Haiti, but America has its own problems and it should really focus on fixing those before they try policing and triaging the people of the world.

Whoa man, I\’m nominating you for a Nobel Prize!(notice the sarcasm) Your concerns for the well being of this country come across as sincere, but you are way off the mark by citing aid to Haiti as examples of America\’s short comings in regards to domestic issues. The connection you attempt to make between the two are simply idiotic and juvenile, which really doesn\’t surprise me seeing as how your a fantasy writer. The U.S. gov\’t sets funds aside to help in humanitarian crisis just as this, and at that the majority of the funds and help going down there come from private donations and the Red Cross. You sir is what is wrong with the world, and I hope that you take a moment and step outside of your fantasy world and take a look at the real one…
Peace
I can accept even the harshest of criticism, even from those with views unlike my own. At least you read it…Joe
Good article for so many years I have thought the same exact thing, it’s great that we help other countries, but you are so right that we have so many problems of our own, charity really does begin at home first.
Hey Joe, your illiterate in the first place, scumbag.
