There is always a silver lining, and it is a miracle how tragedy can bring people together.
Two weeks ago, a devastating 7.0 earthquake shook the island of Haiti. The death toll is estimated at 150,000 with an additional 194,000 injured. Of Haiti’s 9 million people, it is estimated that 3 million have been affected by the quake.

The worldwide response to the disaster has been incredible. Countries around the world are sending help in the form of money, food, and workers. It is truly a miracle that such a tragedy can bring the world together.
As a future educator, one of my primary concerns is for the children of Haiti. Ninety percent of the schools in Port Au Prince have been destroyed. Over three hundred Haitian orphans have already been evacuated, including my new cousin.
