The idiocy of Hamas equals its futile, religious agenda. Apart from being Israel’s Iranian-backed enemy, it is also an enemy of its own innocent civilians in Gaza whom it uses as a shield. For some unknown reason, they seem to be blind to this fact, while some of whom may themselves be to blame for their misfortune.

The probability of peace in the Middle East hinges on the solution of a problem in which Israel is now deeply involved.  The leaders of Hamas has too long considered their citizens to be no less than pawns that must be sacrificed, in the name of Islam.  If the innocent citizens of Gaza imagine that God is on their side, they should, at the same time realize that Hamas is not, and should, at this critical juncture, depart from an ideology that is guaranteed to prove self-destructive.  After exercising a great deal of patience and indifference by the United Nations as far as its security is concerned, Israel could take it no longer.  There was no alternative but to do what she is presently doing, in order to surgically remove a malignant tumor that, not only poses a danger to its livelihood, but is also a menace to civilians that are lingering under its barbaric control.

What can be more surprising than the Secretary General’s cool approach to the root cause of the problem and his suggestion to return to the status quo that is not acceptable to Israel.  In the estimation of many of his critics, he is no better than his predecessor, whose partiality toward representatives within the Arab bloc is equally noticeable.

If this happens to be the end game of Hamas, so be it.  Perhaps, in the aftermath of the radical surgery,  a remission or a total recovery from the ”tumor” will bring the moderate Palestinians and Israel to the point of a final settlement, with the long-nursed achievement of a goal that, will be internationally celebrated.
